I'm at work, so I have to make this quick. But damn. Check below the break for details and mild spoilers.
This episode was perfectly timed for the start of football season. Just throwing that out there.
And I loved it.
This was quite possibly my favorite episode of the series. I'm a huge sports fan, so having one of my fave characters in Fluttershy end up being a great player was amazing. Not to mention the awesomeness of Snails actually serving a role... so great.
I just loved it, I loved the message about being talented yet having fun, it was just that good.
What'd you guys think?
I was a bit worried because I really am not a sports fan, and it seemed like it would be out of place in the series, but I genuinely enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised by Snails too.
I'm waiting for someone to make a pmv parody of the famous 'Monday Night Football' song using clips from this episode... sadly, I have no video editing skillz to speak of, so I will likely be waiting for quite a while,
It was simple. Almost too simple.
4192790 It did have simplicity to it, but I loved the small details. Like the fans dressing up, the fact that the team's best players came from nowhere almost mirrors the nfl perfectly at times. But the overall moral didn't leave much to the imagination.

4192837 I feel ya. Sports are a huge deal for my family, friends and I, so it had particular relevance for me.
I enjoyed that the episode allowed for a different spotlight.
Some people may have said "but what about Rarity or Starlight? They're unicorns," but I preferred having Snails in there.
Plus, it was nice to see Pinkie and Fluttershy take the lead in a sporting event, rather than having a 'perfect-at-every-athletic-activity-Rainbow Dash...
Don't get me wrong; I love all the characters for their individual and similar traits.
I guess I'm just tired of having Dash the lead in everything sports related, so I appreciated the variety.
