Greetings, Twilight.
With the conclusion of this month’s summit, we are but a few months shy of completing delegations with [R]. By the time you read this, we may very well have bridged the final gap between our worlds. As with any great leap forward in diplomacy, a number of weighty responsibilities will soon be hefted upon our shoulders, as well as those of the governing officials that preside over [R]. You no doubt have quite the grasp of such affairs on a functional level, but speaking as one who was once abruptly thrust into such a position, when my sister and I first took our place at the helm of Equestria many moons ago, I wish to impart upon you one bit of wisdom I only wish I could have held long ago: the responsibilities are not yours alone. They are shared across leadership. By that rule, it is first and foremost your responsibility to act as such. Be quick to seek help, and help will follow.
This, however, is not the principle reason why I write to you this eve.
For you, at the time of writing this letter, the day is drawing to its end. Celestia’s sun rests upon the shoulders of the Smokey Mountains, waiting for her command. Likewise, beneath the horizon waits the moon over which I hold charge, ready to herald in the night. The nightingales have already begun their song, and the cicadas, who so briefly call this northern city their home, fill the air with chatter. The wind blows warm over the balcony upon which I sit, and the world beyond would seem eternally at peace.
As we know, such is not truly the case. Equestria, for all its exceptional traits and remarkable community, is never entirely without hardship. But this holds far more true for the world to which we are about to open our doors.
It would be foolhardy for me to imply that you do not recognize the political climate of [R] as it currently stands; you are indeed more versed in their affairs than any of us in Canterlot. But there is one point I wish to address in relation to such matters, a point which we have already discussed at great length through many a correspondence.
When formal delegations conclude, notwithstanding extenuating circumstances, you will no longer be officially affiliated with matters pertaining to it. Your position under the supervision of [EUP-NG] will cease, documentation of your involvement will be archived, and any action you take thereafter must be voluntary. This, however, does not mean we shall cease correspondence. In fact, I have one such related matter to discuss with you privately, when you can find the time. Please reply ASAP with a date and hour during which we can meet – remember, do not use dragon mail.
Our thoughts here in Canterlot are with you and your friends, as well as the mare who made this all possible. If you have the chance to speak again with Nighttide before the next letter trade, please send my warmest regards.
