Ah, the fickleness of a rating system that doesn't verify that someone has even read/consumed the product. Of course I am talking about Jack's Harem Fantasy Comes True, as of writing it has 6 upvotes and 9 down. 
Now, people aren't meant to rate something without reading, but how many readers saw the title and clicked it just so they could thumbs it down? Or has apathy stopped such acts? This story is meant as a parody of a horrible line of clop-fiction where a human gets to Equestria and, for one reason or another, finds themselves overwhelmingly attractive to ponies. Well, Jack does get some tail, but he also gets a colon-full of comeuppance. Read it if you dare, but if the thought of a brony going to Equestria in search of mares to screw only to find the tables flipped, turns you off in odd ways, please just go there and click thumbs down.
Which brings to mind an idea for a social experiment. Putting an author comment at the start of the only chapter of a relatively nice slice-of-life story, asking people to not thumbs up the story but also to not thumbs down, and instead scroll down and just post a comment with trollestia in it if they truly do not like the story, then work out how many people really don't read a story. Of course there are too many variables, but the idea that someone can downvote a story without even viewing it (you can downvote from the overview page) is just ridiculous.
A comic that has been running for more than 16 years... that is quite a feat. Schlock Mercenary is one such. This is an epic story of true 'science fiction', the writer takes into account actual speeds in space, along with all the nitty gritty of modern space-era infantry combat.

Quite the change in quality, but that is the wonderful thing about a skill, if you keep working at them, they get better.

For the experiment to work you'd need magical hypnosis that worked over the internet in order to get people to actually follow your instructions, instead of downvoting after reading the author's note just to be perverse.

But only three authors do I automatically downvote the story without reading. the first for being an arse with a story, the 2nd for basically blowing me off with an honest question series, and the last for the white knights that defended them.
4106080 I would ask you, in the spirit of ponies, to stop. For one, it is against the rules of the site. For two, it is way beneath you as the awesome person I know you are. For three, I have had this done to me and it is annoying and not fun.
Yeah, Schlock, SMBC, and the last one I will list (eventually), have all been daily updates for a LONG time. Great to see such dedication.
4106091 You have? I'm sorry then for having it happen to you. You do have well written stories, that even though I might not like the pretext in part where they go for a few, but you have met a solid and well written style. But when you get harassed here, and nothing happens when its reported, or from the messages I got of the above. It left a sour note to the author and their white knights. It doesn't excuse it, though I hope it does provide a why to one.
I know it isn't something good, or liked to new folks, and its often them that it happens to. (And the three were 2k+ followers) Because it hurts their chances to have more folks find their works, and even for feedback to both improve and better themselves.
But you are the first person to actually ask me to stop what i was doing. So I don't mind to do so.
