Flesh and Blood, my last stand · 6:04pm Jul 16th, 2016
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve had chapter 4 nearly complete for over three years now. It’s been through an absurd amount of re-writes and edits, but I’m never satisfied with it. Even after all this time, it still haunts me knowing that my story sits there, unfinished. The same goes for my previous chapters, I’m just not happy with how they are, and I feel like redoing them. Right now, I feel this is my final chance to turn things around for it, and I see it going one of three ways.
1. Sit down, focus, and write the story, sacrificing time that I could spend on art in the process.
2. Start over and turn it into a comic, being able to work on art and the story at the same time, though, at the cost of immersion.
3. Forget about the whole thing and never look back.
The biggest trouble I had with writing was finding the right words. I just couldn’t convey the story in the way I wanted to. I feel making it into a comic will make it much easier on me and let me actually make some progress. However, I worry doing so wouldn’t grip the reader as much as my writing would, they wouldn’t “feel” the story as much. And that’s no small thing to lose; it was my favorite part to write, the feeling, the emotion. Describing the scenery was the trouble. But at this point, after this long, does it really matter? How many of you are even still into this story? Please let me know how you would like me to approach this, it needs to end.

I'll still read it no matter what you end up doing with it, but please, don't just abandon it. I've seen too many brilliant stories sit unfinished, including some of my own.
I agree with the guy below me, and i also want to add that if I were you, I would think it would be a shame to let my creativity and ideas go to waste on an unfinished story. As for whether it should be a story or a comic, I wouldn't mind it either way, whether it be a story or a comic. I think it ultimately comes down to which one you would enjoy doing more. It wouldn't do much good to continue the story if you didn't enjoy it, which I imagine would also affect the story's overall quality.
1) continue the Story, also still into it.
4095863 Hello Cryptosporidium.
4095903 ??? what??? apparently, that's a disease-causing protozoa. I feel like I'm missing something here...
4095941 Ever played the game "Destroy all Humans!!!"?
4095963 oh I see, I haven't played it so I didn't get the reference. my bad
I'd love to see this story continue. While a comic would be interesting, you would have to cut out a lot of the little details unless you make a really long one. It's a different medium, for sure. I'd love to see both someday, actually.
Try not to doubt yourself so much. YOU will see the mistakes in your writing more than anyone else. I've noticed that all good creators seem unsatisfied with their work, and a lot of bad creators think their work is the best thing ever. You would be in the former category. You have over 1200 upvotes on Flesh and Blood for a reason. Perhaps clean up the original chapters of anything that really stands out as wrong without significantly changing the plot, then continue from there? Please don't let this story die.
You should do what you enjoy doing more I guess.
I mean , I would love to see this story continue in it's written form , as it was quite good (Don't be to hard on yourself , good authors are always their own worst critics) , but this is useless if it means that it becomes a chore for you in the process , because then the chances of it ever getting completed are abyssmal.
A lot of writers look back on things they've written in the past and cringe at all the flaws. That hasn't been my experience. I look back at all the emotions I tried to invoke, and if the emotions still hold true, I love them despite the flaws.
You won't be able to avoid flawed writing by rewriting the same scene over and over. That comes from writing more and more scenes, learning from experience. Put out what you have, then continue onward from there, and as you keep writing, each later chapter will be better than the ones before.

I honestly don't like #2. I can totally understand why you'd want to do it, but to me, it seems like just another way of saying you're gonna rewrite it. Which is kind of a cop-out. Again, I understand your reasons, as I have been there many times (and still am). But I never want to do a re-do because it is a cop-out. And even if you do it well, you're gonna lose probably half of the story's readers anyway.
I hate to say it but that leaves options 1 or 3.
In all honesty? And mind you this was 3 years ago, I don't really remember the scenery standing out that much. And in general, scenery usually isn't a big focus in written media. Precisely because writing is not really conducive to scenery. That's not to say that it never is, but my point is that I don't recall it being a big part of this particular story. So, if I recall correctly, then, we won't really be missing anything if you suck at describing the scenery. Just write the other shit, and be done with it.
If you really can't continue, I wouldn't mind seeing an outline or timeline of what you wanted to tell.
I forgot about this story but after three years I never took it out and I always wondered what happened to it because it ended on such a great cliffhanger. I'd love seeing it continued.
I was just wondering the other day what ever happened to this. If you keep on writing it, I'd be happy to see where the story goes.
When I first read it I considered it to be one of if not the best sweetie bot stories out there. Id love to see where the story goes. My preference would be to write it but I wouldn't be against a comic. The only issue I have with comic is how every webcomic I've seen takes months to get where a novel can get in two pages, if the artist doesn't lose interest by then. Your have to e pretty dedicated to it.

I'd go with option #1 as well.
Holy shit your alive
Yes! YOU! CAN! DO! THIS! frankly I don't care how you finish the story as long as it starts getting regular updates again. (fingers crossed behind my back)
I do hope you come back and continue this I always loves sweetie bot stories
