More Weirdness for "Weirder Than Normal" · 8:52am May 12th, 2016
I guess I should start using this blog for posting minutia on my stories rather than in the responses
In preparations for the next chapter, I came across some errors in continuity and calculation. Corrections made to chapters 10, 11, 17, 22, 23, 24, and 25--in case you were seeing any weirdness about their publication dates (although, I'm not....).
Coming up next---Winter has Arrived! And Jon Snow walks again!
edit-->May 11--Well, I certainly learned to double-check with Ryuu on my physics calculations from now on
Fortunately, most of the changes I did above were correct, but there was a small detail he caught when he looked over what I rewrote about Pardus tossing the nuke into the sun. NOW, it should be correct (well, as feasible as can be done with Trek physics).--Unfortunately, those changes were absolutely needed, given what's going into this upcoming chapter.
I tried not to bother him because I knew he was having a hard time getting the Enigma Trevar gave the griffons to work. I really gave him a headache by coming up with the idea that the ponies were using a blend of Greek, Georgian, and other alphabets. Doing so caused the Enigma simulator he had found to not be adequate for our needs. He had been beating his head against the wall ever since because the source code didn't translate well to Microsoft's VBasic and we both really wanted the messages going back and forth as encoded to start making their appearances soon.
But he had a major breakthrough last week. And just in time!
Won't be long now
BTW, as you can see from this link, there's a way to calculate position, velocity, and acceleration when acceleration ISN'T a constant.
And we both learned there are apparently actual (although unofficial) names to the parameters that go into C, and D on that page (B, of course, is the initial acceleration). C is called "jerk", D is called "snap", and that there are derivatives and names for those derivatives beyond "snap" (which don't appear on that web page): next is "crackle", then "pop"

Here's a link to Ryuu's blog post on the updated math to my original blog post.
That is a lot of behind the scenes devotion to fanficcing!
3940030 Thanks.
That's part of why I liked Ryuu's work over at the old PerneseFriend's site. He's quite the perfectionist, especially where it comes to physics and works hard paying attention to detail in the stories. He's really been a huge help to me here.

The website you mentioned appears to no longer exist.
Yeah. The site went down a while ago. He moved his stuff over to the Archive Of Our Own website. You can find his "Tunnel-Snake and Fire-Lizard" there. He's still yet to finish it, but it's got 31 chapters and currently is 217k words.
I asked when he was going to add more to it. He explained he's currently in Fiji and that he needed to get his Pern collection from his home in the States in order to work on it. Fortunately, he's still got his laptop, so he was able to get me all the info on his characters that I needed for this story.
Well, there's now an update to the info for this blog in my blog :)
