The Sentient Cloud

I'm The Sentient Cloud, a now-retired fanfiction writer from New Zealand. If you're looking at this, then you've probably already found your way to either "The Piano Man" or "Those Who Came Before".

    Updates on /everything/

Okay, so as a little note: I am still around, and I am still working on the final Piano Man Chapter.
But, that brings me to an interesting point, that being; I'm not entirely sure I'll keep writing for FIMFiction once it's over. I'm not saying I won't, but it's a possibility.

    Hard at Work

I know I've been very quiet update-wise as of late, so I feel it's best that I put up a quick blog post.

As per normal, Those Who Came Before is still on hiatus until I've put out these last two Piano Man chapters. I just felt I should reaffirm that. The first of the two-part epilogue for The Piano Man: Act II is close to completion too. I apologize for the long wait.

    Google "The Piano Man"

Every now and then, I Google my stories, just to see how far down the list they pop up. Obviously, The Piano Man has never been high on the search results unless you include 'FIMfiction' in the search bar.

    But...

    Seriously. What.
    WHAT.

The Piano Man: EqD Revisions · 11:32am Sep 1st, 2012

Wow, I've been making a lot of blog posts lately.

Okay, so I'm interested in taking another crack at getting the original Piano Man on Equestria Daily. I know that it isn't up to the standard of the sequel, and for it to be considered, it needs to be as good as possible. I myself am able to perform the second (and far more strict) round of revisions, but I'm wondering if anyone else is interested in helping out.

If you're interested, then please drop me a comment or a PM, and I will explain further.

***

Now, an interesting note: I found this comment on the original Piano Man's 9th chapter, which had me so very worried at the time. I was concerned over my dropping view-count.

1: 945
2: 567
3: 469
4: 472
5: 379
6: 368
7: 308
8: 329
9: N/A

Now... let's look at the figures for Act II's 9 chapters so far, shall we?

1: 2,210
2: 2,180
3: 1,985
4: 1,889
5: 1,651
6: 1,546
7: 1,588
8: 1,357
9: 1,131

Now is it just me, or is that some damn fine progress? I'm averaging 1,400 or so recurring readers every chapter - which is almost five times the amount I had at this point for Act I.
I'm pretty happy at the moment - even if my view count seems to have dropped a little bit.

Aw, don't worry about your viewcount. As long as you write what you enjoy, its all good, right?

Also, keep up the awesome story! I am always thrilled when I see that it has been updated.:pinkiehappy:

While I greatly enjoy Piano Man, the guys over at EqD hate HiE with a passion and generally reject anything that has a human in it.

I'd love the opportunity to help you in any way I can! :pinkiehappy:

I am pretty sure that some readers aren't taken into account. I personally wouldn't read a sequel until I have read the first installment, and I think that most people feel the same way. Maybe the way that people read stories changes as stories grow larger. Personally, if a story is complete or decently sized, I will often put it on my Ipod, so that I can read it later. You might have a lot more readers for both stories than it first appears.

327556 Actually, they're only policy is against Brony in Equestria stories... Which doesn't help me in the slightest. It's a good thing Daffodil said this:

The only rules that are set in stone are the no clop/no gore rules. If your story is of an incredibly high quality we will give it a chance. Just be aware that it will be held to a higher standard.

Now... let's see if there are any other comments.

I wouldn't be worried about your view count. I mean, you story has like a hundred more likes than mine, right?

And you told me to leave... :rainbowlaugh:

329157 Oh right! Back when this story only had half as many views as yours. :twilightblush:
It's a good thing Mr. Dragon Man doesn't get frightened away by a little shouting.

I should add, just to make sure that it's clear: I was joking at the time I posted that comment as well. 'Twas all in good fun.

329252 'Course you were joking. That's why I stayed.

'Mr. Dragon Man'
Mesa approves :rainbowkiss::rainbowkiss::rainbowkiss::rainbowkiss::rainbowkiss:

329252 It takes more than a little shouting to scare me away. Next time try a bazooka. That might get slightly better results. :ajsmug:

329270 Bazooka...
Hmm... Nope. All out.

How would a P-90 do?

329274 A P-90? Hmmmm...

Add a Red Dot Sight and I think you're good.

327743 Well then, I suppose you're my man(/woman)! (I just wanted to wait and see if anyone else was interested in helping out, as I suppose there's a lot of work to do.

So, are you still available to help?

348422
For you? Anything. <3
I don't have too much experience with this sort of thing though. (Only did a few chapters for various authors recently.)
But on the flipside, I've got the schedule flexibility to always help.
So, yeah, available I am.
