    The end of an era

Some may think I'm talking about Friendship is Magic ending later this year. And that is also the end of an era. But while everyone was looking forward to that, another era ended entirely by surprise. It turns out that "Sunset's Backstage Pass" was the final Equestria Girls production produced by DHX. The license has been turned over to Boulder Media, whose plans for the franchise are unclear.

    The Mysteries of Maud Pie

It's been a long time. I have a new story, The Mysteries of Maud Pie. Nothing super fancy or ambitious here, just a short story I belted out pretty quickly based on something very personal to me.

    Forgotten Friendship (spoilers)

A new Equestria Girls special! And it's.... ah... aaaauuuugh! AAAAAHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUGH! This special is what I will call a "mixed bag".

On the one hand, it had some fantastic emotional and character-pushing moments.
    1: Sunset's confrontation with Celestia.
2: Twilight wigging out in the forbidden section of the library.

He's gonna take you back to the past

I looked up recently and realized that it has actually been YEARS since I've watched any of Season 1. I was curious to see how it would hold up after all of the advancements in storytelling and graphics that have taken place over the years, so I selected a few of my personal favorites for revisiting.

Shadowbolts Adventures: The Chaos Lord Is Complete · 7:19am Apr 10th, 2016

As the blog title suggests, Shadowbolts Adventures: The Chaos Lord just wrapped up. Sometimes I like to experiment with stories, see how things feel and how they turn out. I actually ended up learning something about myself with this story. I just don't particularly like writing single long-form stories anymore. I have all of these other ideas swimming around my head that I can't finish until the project I'm currently working on wraps up. It's frustrating, and I think keeping the stories small-ish and individual going forward is going to be more to my liking. I'm not saying there will be no multi-chapter stories going forward, just not many.

Perhaps this is why it took me over 2 years to finally finish "Past, Present, and Future". You'd think I would have learned this then, but nope. I have to be stubborn.

Anyway, ponies aired today. I think it's one of my favorite slice-of-life episodes in the series. It was a bit rushed at points, and a bit simplistic, but it worked very well, I thought. Kudos all around, and happy for a really great season 6 thus far.

I know how you feel. I finished one once, and just never really wanted to do another, at least not for very long at a time.
