Mature Nyx and the Sunset. · 2:26am Feb 29th, 2016
This doesn't meany anything yet! Hold yer ponies let me explain.
Alright, so this was something I've been meaning to say for a long time: Since site admin, Xaquseg, introduced the tag and rating clarification chart in the FAQ section of the site, I've come to the realization that Nyx and the Sunset, toward the end of the story, might need to get a mature rating to compensate for what's going to come. No! There will be no gore, no sex, none of that, maybe one curse word on Sunsets behalf but with the climax of the story in mind, a teen rating may not support it. There were plenty of moments in this story where I planned it to go very dark and very borderline or outright mature but I didn't want to do that as it almost always involved Nyx and was out of character for her, and no we are nowhere near the chapters these were going to take place.
I can't specify why the story will have to go mature without spoiling the entire final act, but with how loosely explained the ratings are, which mostly focus on the rights and wrongs of using the sex and gore tags for the teen and mature ratings, I don't want to risk upsetting the rules, so a mature rating would be appropriate, unless a teen rating can support a single curse word and some of the actions the girls take in the defense of Nyx, and Nyx's defense of herself. Bottom line, the stories is going to get darker and Nyx is going to get hurt, and unless I can keep the tag by finding different ways to tell the climax and final struggle without ti going mature, you may have to turn on your maturity filter just to read the story.
I just wanted to inform ya'll and explain why so I don't have to when/if it happens
Oooh~. Can't wait! I mean, dark, but still, been a while!
HYPE! HYPE! HYPE!
Well, it seems to me that it would be better to go w the worst case rating. That way, you can just write & not have to worry "is this over the line?". Then, when you are done you can down grade to the rating that suits it best.
Of course, this philosophy results in things like Bambi being rated teen. (Hey, one of the main characters is murdered)
3784415 Now now, no need to be negative. I am currently thinking up a revise so it doesn't end up needing the mature rating.
