Hello again, readers! Unfortunately, work on the next chapter of The White Rider has barely started, and all I have done is some brainstorming. I'll be writing as soon as I have all my ideas for this chapter thought out.
Now, I wanted to note a few more things about how I am going to do this story.
Firstly, for those wondering, there will likely not be romance in this fic. Well, at least not any pairing with Gandalf involved, because I can't really imagine myself writing a romantic Gandalf. However, if this changes, I will adapt. May Tolkien have mercy...
Secondly, I have not read the books, but I do know quite a lot about the lore. That is how I know who Tom Bombadil is, that Gandalf is actually a Maiar (an "angel" of sorts in Tolkien's works). among other things. I've also had nights where I aimlessly search up articles on LOTR wiki, so there's that.
Thirdly, and this is important: Though I'm sure most of you know by now, edits to a chapter will take the appearance of an update, unless that has changed. Anyway, keep that in the back of your mind whenever you receive an update notice for this story, because I will be making occasional edits, and one will happen soon.

I was actually really surprised to find that no one had written such a fic. C'mon, he's Gandalf. One of LOTR's most epic characters and the source of one of the Internet's greatest memes. All you have to do is toss him into Equestria and everypony will have insane amounts of fun.
Then I realized that tossing him in would be too boring and the magic tunnel was born.

Hey man I love the fic so far even though it's only one chapter so far. Agreed with the others: take your time and release the next chapter when it's ready.
Quick question though, why couldn't Shadowfax go with Gandalf? It really was not explained in the chapter, and I've always been curious to see how that would play out.

I want to say that it's because Gandalf was not sure what effect crossing over into Equestria would have on Shadowfax, as he is already a horse, though it's partially because I didn't really think to have Gandalf bring Shadowfax along.
If you want a pettier reason though, the fact that the trees are so tightly knit near the tunnel would have prevented Shadowfax's entry as well. I admit that this idea is quite stupid.
Though, Shadowfax may or may not make another appearance. Shhhhh...
And of course, thank you very much for your enthusiasm. I will try not to disappoint.

What do you mean no romance? We all know Twilight is going to be going after Gandalf as soon as she figures out who he is so a one-sided romance is basically mandatory.
Yes, Tolkien fans can get a bit... intense about canon. Don't let it scare you though. Getting the mood and characterization correct is more important in my experience. It's easy to write a Middle Earth story that's technically correct by canon but doesn't actually feel like Middle Earth [1], but from the first chapter it looks like you've got the atmosphere right.
[1] Much like Friendship is Magic, come to think of it. Mood is such an important part of both series, and it's frustrating when writers miss it.

Yes, I feel the same way about mood and characterization. I'll need to double my usual efforts with this particular fic.
I imagine Twilight meeting Gandalf will be similar to what would happen if I met Twilight. A 30 second nerdgasm, followed by a multi-hour discussion about science and magic.
