526938 I recently did a lot of research about the international prototype kilogram, which was mentioned in one of my stories. It's made of a blend of iridium and platinum, giving it super corrosion resistance.

Also, I named a pony who works as a jazz club host Iridium after the famous club in New York.

It's my second favorite element, my number one being carbon. Rare on the surface of the earth yet common in meteors. It's close to being the most dense element known to man competing with osmium for the number one spot.
It helped us to determine what killed off the dinosaurs. Lots of applications in medical technology as well.
