Seriously, where did all the toilet paper go?

((My graduate training is in epidemiology and public health, and I'd like to think I know whereof I speak. This will be off-topic—possibly a more inane blog post than I've ever made here. You know what it's about.))

    I'm not dead.

And to those of you who know what's going on, I am not at all being facetious.

    On Failure

If there was ever any doubt that I'm still a terrible author . . .

I thought I understood how to write characters, Rarity most of all . . .

    Why didn't I catch something so obvious? . . .

    Do I know what a good story is anymore? . . .

So much of future stories depends on what happens in this one; what does it mean when I got this one so wrong? . . .

What the Hell Is the Author Doing? · 5:30am Feb 13th, 2016

Um. Hi, guys! It's been a while (like a very long while) since I last made a blog post on anything. I've posted a few stories in the interim, but socially, I've been rather quiet. I'm not one to make my blog posts like a Twitter feed, but I figure that some of you would like an update on what's been going on with me.

Busy, I guess the right word would be, and with a lot of things. Including pony. While I haven't been doing a whole lot over here, I've actually taken up roleplaying over on MLPForums, generally playing as Rarity. Say what you will about roleplaying, but I'm actually using it as a testing grounds of sorts, where I can push Rarity's character and be liberal in her actions without fear of retribution. So that's where I've been devoting a good bit of my time.

That's not saying I've been stagnant on the writing front, though. As I mentioned, I have posted a couple stories since my last blog post—inspirational fever dreams without much forethought or editing, mostly—but I'm also working on a somewhat larger and more polished writing project that I plan on publishing in the next few months. I can't tell you what it's about yet, and I can't give you an estimated release date, but rest assured that there will be lots of words and lots of drama.

In the meantime, I've also built up a backlog of Grammer a Week posts. You know those weekly blog posts about a grammar topic that I suddenly stopped posting like nine months ago? I guess you can consider that a "Season 1" of sorts because I plan on bringing Grammer a Week back with lots of new exciting and esoteric topics! :pinkiehappy:

About grammar.

. . . I'm the only one who's excited about this, huh? :fluttershyouch:

Not the only one! I eagerly await all grammar posts.

Oh no, I am looking fFORWARD to your grammar posts :heart: They're so useful! I read constantly and I've picked up a lot of grammar rules by observation and osmosis, but when helping someone edit or preread, it can be hard to explain why it needs to be a certain way, or why the way it's currently written is wrong. This blog is so helpful! I can explain EXACTLY what needs to be changed and why!

Ooh, more grammar posts! This is good news! :pinkiehappy:

O-Okay. I was not expecting that. Expect the Grammer a Week reboot to come tomorrow!

But just as aside, a good bit of my grammar research finds me dealing with subjects that are more interesting than they are useful. And in fear of my subconsciousness admitting that it just spent hours researching something essentially useless, I instead inducted those interesting-but-not-that-useful subjects into Grammer a Week posts. For instance, there are three (and possibly up to six) correct pluralizations of the word "pegasus." Clearly useful knowledge. :twilightblush:

Heh, that's something I remember discussing with someone a while back. Still, Chancellor Puddinghead says it's "pegasusususes", and that's good enough for me. :pinkiecrazy:
