Noble Thought

I sometimes pretend I have a posting schedule other than "sometime soon."

    Personal life disruption

Hey, everyone. I felt I owed you all an explanation for why it's now two weeks past the last scheduled update for Primrose War.

So, I've had a bit of a personal upheaval. I'm moving forward with building a house, not immediately, but there's been a lot of talking with friends and family about what it'll mean going forward. So that's one thing.

    Unexpected Hiatus

Hello everyone. I wanted to apologize for the lengthy, unexpected hiatus of The Primrose War. It was definitely unplanned, and this time I haven't been writing. Work, leading up to the holidays, has been more stressful than usual with the rush to get things done before I take my two week end-of-year vacation.

    Next chapter delayed

Hello everyone! I apologize, but the next chapter of Primrose War will be delayed by a bit. Between work and a few novel releases that I've been looking forward to, I haven't made as much progress as I wanted to on the next chapter. I do have a solid outline, though, for the rest of the book as well as part of the next, so I haven't been idle.

Pre-Readers wanted for... well... look. · 12:14am Feb 10th, 2016

As many of you know who have followed me for a while, I have a, er, problem.

I come up with an idea, plot it out, and run with it for a few chapters. Currently, I have er... sec. Counting.

Priority / Title / Tags-ish / Currently Written

1. Cake Thief (Currently updating - Mys, Com) (20k)
2. Tides of Love (TwiDance, Drama, Teen, SoL) (4k)
A story about Twilight and Cadance, married for eight years following the death of Shining Armor at sea.
3. Sundered Seas (Sea ponies, yay! Adventure, Teen, and so much worldbuilding) (12k)
The origins of the Sirens, imagined as originally being seaponies.
4. Heart of Crystal Prep (Rom, Teen, Sex, SoL, Drama, EQG) (20k)
Cadance and Luna familial relationshipping + drama + Shadowbolts.
5. Like Silver Glass (Teen, Romance, Drama, Sad, Rainbow Dash) (25k)
Rainbow Dash gets punished for the "Winter is Coming" episode events, learns a life lesson.
6. Pantymare (yes, I have multiple chapters written, Mat, Sex, Rom, Drama, Adventure) (~12k)
A reluctant superhero fights an inexperienced super villain (not a comedy)
7. Anatomy Lessons (comedy, mature, sex) (~outline + 2k)
A portal mishap, a potion mishap, and anatomical differences lead to... things.
8. Lyra and Bright Eyes (Rom, SoL, Drama, Teen, Sex) (30k)
Lyra and Bright Eyes (Derpy) as distant relatives living in Ponyville, with the former trying to find romance, and the latter trying to keep her from going insane.
9. Make Love, Not War (Mat, Sex, Rom, Adventure, AU, Dark totally not a clopfic) (10k)
Sombraverse story about the eventual fall of King Sombra.
10. Our Last Chance (stalled)
Uh... what was I doing again?
11. The Spa Sisters (Mature, Sex, Drama, SoL, Rom, Tragedy) (20k)
Misunderstandings and individual flaws lead to tragedy and, later, to peace.

Not counting a plethora of one-shots and a ... oh yeah.
12. Not Scientifically Possible (TwiLuna, Romance, Comedy, Teen, Sex)(3k)
Twilight discovers something else that shouldn't be scientifically possible.
13. Unnamed not-displaced story about a young girl, later a young woman, who has walked between worlds (3k)
A young woman, once a young girl who had fantastic adventures and later fell onto hard times, finds herself in that far off place again.
14. Cultural Exchange (Mature, Sex, Comedy - no sex, just frank discussions)( 4k)
Twilight brings two packages to Humania, one that Rarity insisted she read, and the other a gift from Spike to other Rarity. Oopses happen.

Those are things. So... as you can see, I have a bit of a problem. I write a lot. Not all of it's directed at currently published stories, and I'm looking for some folks to give some of these a looksie and maybe make a few comments on the current flow and direction of the stories. I do have a regular editor, but throwing this much at him at once would be... uh... like Pinkie Pie and the pinata cake. A lot, in other words.

So... let me know if you're interested in poking at something. I, like all writers, thrives on outside input and while I have been supplementing my outside input with stories that I read and listen to (Currently Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley and previously The Books of Swords by Fred Saberhagen,) I still need to be told occasionally that something is dumb or doesn't work, or "This is good, but this is better."

Honestly, I'm really open to suggestions, but I do have definite ideas about where my stories are going. Sometimes I just need a little help getting there.

Perhaps I could do an editing swap, assuming I can gain just a bit more ground on my homework. I need to write thirty-two new, original pieces this semester, and I can barely churn them out on schedule, let alone find editors.

We might be able to work something out, sure. Let me know when, and what you might be interested in, and what you'd like me to look at (along with other relevant details you might need me to know about)

I'm pretty shitty when it comes to things like spelling or grammar, but I might be able to comment if you're looking for the other stuffs around it, like flow.

3744172

Sure thing. I generally don't need a lot of help with grammar and spelling, but talking about flow and plot really gets things flowing, y'know.

I might be able to pre-read or edit for Sundered Seas, although I do have a lot of work, so it'd be fairly infrequent, if you're willing to live with it.

3744221

Sure. It looks like that's the most popular one so far.

3744212 I'd be willing to give Tides a look, or any of the other ones you want someone to look at, although I hould caution that I probably won't get to them until tomorrow night.

If you're still looking for people, feel free to contact me. Although I don't have much experience as a proof reader (only did a few oneshots for friends but people do often like to bounce ideas around with me), I still think I can be of service.

3744405

Always interested in idea bouncing. I'll contact you shortly with a few that I have for... well, a few stories.

3744449 sure, don't expect a reply before tomorrow though, it's 4 AM for the europeans ^^.

3744473

No need to worry about me being impatient. The longest of these has been waiting around, unpublished, for almost a year. I am patient.

I'd be happy to look at number 13, although I'm not a professional by any stretch of the imagination. I just like to read.

Hi there. Since 'Mother of the Moon' still has a place in my favourites, after multiple times of cleaning out the folder, I'm interested. I've got quite a bit of editing and proofreading experience. Not so long ago I've started to try my hand a writing fimfics as well... (with varying results, but still).
Also: Marion Zimmer Bradley. I've read nearly everything she's written. The Darkover books already over 20 years ago, actually ;)

Anyway: count me in for #13 just like everyone else, but even more for #5. I've always wondered how on earth RD got off with destroying a vital piece of infrastructure without so much as a slap on the wrist.

3744659

Sure! It may be a bit, though. There's not much written on it.

3745021
# 5 has a ton more written for it, and I have a lot of ideas, as well as a decently developed (so far, I think) OC pony nurse, her great uncle, and their family. I will get thee a link soon. Got some PMs to send out.

3744483 Still planning to send those ideas? If it's easier we can also do it through skype instant messaging.

3745328

I am! I just need to not be on my phone so I can sort out things. And most of my ideas come in the form of stories anyway. Anything in particular that strikes your interest?

3745334 A few but feel free to pick your own favourites. After all, I'm doing this to help you ^^.

3745336

I'm really in love, lately, with the Sundered Seas story about the sirens. I can send you the two chapters I have mostly fleshed out. Maybe a little more here and there, but those are mostly done.

I'm a somewhat mediocre editor/pre-reader, but I can help you with Like Silver Glass. It's the only one I recognize since that was in the writeoff, and I really enjoyed that story.

3747065

Well, I always could use a slap on the wrist when I'm doing something silly or dumb with a character. I'll jet the first two chapters over to you.

I'd be interested in doing some pre-reading and idea bouncing if you'd like me to. I'm not to keen on all-out romance, so I'd prefer one of you stories that doesn't solely focus on that aspect. I don't know... maybe Our Last Chance?

By the way, was The Spa Sisters originally one of your write off entries? I remember reading a mini fic featuring them and Rarity.
