    Hello again!

Hi! I'm still here, and I'm still trucking along. First off, thanks to all the people who got the Manehatten Project up to 200 views. That's pretty neat for me. :D

Good news though, I'm nearly done with my Creative Writing MA. I've handed in my dissertation, and I have just one more piece of coursework left to do.

And, yeah, I'm still working on stuff. I'll upload stuff... Erm, eventually.

I'm STILL still here! ...Sort of.

As of 06/05/2017, I'm still on FiMFiction, but I'm also studying a master's degree in Creative Writing, and have a sizeable amount of coursework to do, as well as a dissertation proposal, and a 15-20k word dissertation to write. So I'm still here, all you very small number of people who do take the time to follow me (and thank you sincerely for that!), but I'm not going to be very active here for

    I'm still here!

Thanks to all three of you who are still following me. I am still coming up with stuff to write for this site, though The Manehatten Project is on the backburner for right now.

    The Manehatten Series and Changelings.

With regards to the notion of Changelings in my series, I don't think I need to go into extensive details about the fact that they're pretty much a stand in for whatever popular scapegoat demographic we have in the real world; it's something I plan to explore in more detail later, perhaps develop some backlash for some of my characters who stoked the flames for it later on, but at present it's

    Downvotes Aren't Helpful Feedback.

Downvotes Aren't Helpful Feedback. · 11:55pm Jan 23rd, 2016

I've mentioned this on one forum thread already, but I'm going to say it here too.

If you're going to read my work, I'd love that. But, if you don't like my work for whatever reason, please, PLEASE at least give me some actual constructive feedback as to why you don't like it. I can't do ANYTHING with a thumbs down. I don't mind people disliking my work, but it would be nice to know where I'm going wrong.

This is something that really resonates with me.

It's just as bad on DeviantART now, to be honest. I don't know how any newcomers are supposed to make any headway here or on DA if people aren't willing or able to actually communicate anything.

It kinda makes me wonder just WHY nobody comments or anything... :\ It's tough, isn't it? I guess I just gotta keep trying and HOPE something will click. But thank you for your input. :twilightblush:

I think I understand what you mean, although I don't think I'm a dA veteran. Of course, there are always a few users every once in a while who come out with a story that's their first, and it explodes in popularity for some reason.

Right, and sometimes people who comment will just remark about their first impressions and never bother to read the rest and leave any comment, so you're stuck with incoming readers looking at the comments of those who only read part of the story.

People are just lazy, I think. I try to leave comments on the works I read, but if somebody's already said what I was thinking, I won't say anything. As a writer myself and a content creator in general, I know how essential feedback is, so I try to provide it whenever I can; however, I know some are just not as considerate.

Heh, I might have been on DA for 5 years or so now, but I dare say I'm no veteran; there's folks on there who've been there for 10 years or more, so I'm nothing special there. I think I got a bit more of a foothold quicker with my DA work because I was at the right place in the right time to just about get a few followers for some of my Spyro work. Still, that's a fandom in decline at the moment, and I would've thought that with the popularity of MLP right now, I'd be able to get that same foothold much quicker... It's a bit naive in hindsight.

I suppose it varies from person to person. I don't mean to be unpleasant about it if I am, but still, it kinda sucks.

Well, thank you for being considerate enough to give me the time of day, at least with this blog. I don't like to try to force my work down people's throats, which is why I've only left my stuff on the groups I've gone to, and hoped people will give it a look-in. I really don't know how to get myself noticed on sites like this, and I don't like to directly ask folks to read my work.

Hehehe. Yeah, creating along with the rise of fandom activity definitely has a certain degree of strategic volatility.

Well, I don't blame you for commenting on it. I think some might get tired of hearing it from people because, well, this a common complaint, but it is nonetheless legitimate. In fact, the frequency of complaints of this nature indicate to some degree just how prevalent the issue is.

Hehehe, me neither on both fronts. I have my own fan fiction I try to promote every once in a while in the appropriate groups, but blatant solicitation is condoned nowhere and is automatically disregarded as spam, but honestly, it's otherwise kind of hard to get one's work into the hands of those who might actually be interested in it. I can exactly the same of my audio readings; the principle remains: you almost have to be established in order to get anywhere or be taken seriously. :ajsleepy:

3708159

Yeah, it's generally a bit of a disappointing situation all in all.

Heh, well, looking at your profile, you've definitely been busy. I ought to give some of that a look in at some point. In any case, thanks again. I'm glad we've chatted, I've certainly enjoyed it. You seem legit to me.

They should have contests for writing decent critiques. I bet that would provide just enough incentive some people to go out there and provide worthwhile feedback, or try, at least.

I'm a bit busy with college right now, but I do take time to check on FimFiction and my other accounts just to see if there's stuff going on. I really only got this notification because your story is sitting in my "Read It Later" list. However, since this blog addresses something I feel very strongly about, I was compelled to provide my thoughts.

 Likewise, you seem like good company to me. I'm not always available to respond, but I do like to chat with people on here in addition to doing whatever I do on here. I appreciate the follow, and you'll find that I've reciprocated.

3708191

That sounds like a pretty good idea, actually.

Yeah, I can understand that: I'm a student of politics myself, in my final year, and I'm actually supposed to be writing my dissertation right now :twilightsheepish:, To What Extent, if any, can Graphic Novels be Used as Political Critique of Ideology? Fun! So I should probably be working on that rather than here on the Internet.

Well, I try to be. I like to think of myself as reasonably sensible and affable online, though I've always been a bit socially anxious. Still, thank you very much for watching me back, and hopefully I can write stuff you'll find interesting.

(They also need to make more emoticons. There's a painful lacking here...)

3709010
Hm. If only I could get this idea into the hands of someone who could see it through. I certainly am not the one to host this sort of thing. :twilightsheepish:

Yeah, that sounds like a bit of work. I'm pursuing a degree in actuarial science; however, I am at the beginning of my journey, not the terminus.

I don't often have time to read on here, so it may be quite a while before I get around to work you have up now, in fact, but I think I can bump the priority in my list. You seem like you have place you want to go, and I'd love to help out if I could. There's just the time thing.

Oh, agreed! Heck, I'd approach the site heads and ask them about it or even volunteer to try to create some myself if I knew I had the time to get a few done in a timely manner. The emoticon selection is lamentably laughable.

3709321

I know there are forums and everything, but is there no way of contacting the Admins or anything of that sort? Hm, from what I gather though, if there was, I imagine you'd have tried it already.

It's tough, yeah, but I'm managing, more or less. Still, best of luck with your work.

Eh, don't worry about it too much. I try not to be pushy over this sort of thing, and I've historically said that IRL stuff is ultimately more important than reading my work. So, if you'd like to, great, but don't let it come at the cost of your own personal life. But you're right: I do have a plan set out for this story, and at least another two afterwards, as this is planned to be a trilogy, with perhaps some potential for series' following in this setting thereafter.

Yeah, and I'm coming from DA here, which has made some quite impressive steps to add more emoticons and the like to their comments and posting, including things made by folks on the site itself. Then again, DeviantART is an art site, so that's entirely the point. Still, the sooner FIMFiction figures out a solution, the better it will be for everyone.

3709351
Yes, that is entirely possible to do, but it is my impression that the administrators of this site have already received countless suggestions already. I do not feel it is fair for me to put in another suggestion of the same kind that has been proposed before unless I already have a plan to provide the icons myself.

Same here. Best of luck to you, too.

Understood. Thank you for your consideration.

I am aware and totally agree. It is actually possible to find most of the emoticons on this site on deviantart.com, as well. I would like to see the day when the classic expressions used for reaction images for fans of this show will be available in nice, compact emotiponies here.

3709437

Hmmm, I see. Fair enough.

Sorry about the briefness of the comment. My internet has been acting up today.
