Part of the amazing journey that led me here to FimFiction to start posting my stories comes from my viewing two YouTube videos back in November 2015. The first one was "A Tale of One Shadow".

This video did for King Sombra lore what the t.v. series does for My Little Pony. It gave us fans something solid and expansive upon which to hang our best artwork and fanfics. It was, in fact, the search for more material revolving around this amazing video that led me to FimFiction and the story "The Tale of One Shadow" by FimFic author RadBunny. If you are a Sombra fan and want something really meaty and expansive on how King Sombra came about and what happened to him after he was expelled from the Crystal Empire, you will totally enjoy this take by Rad. The author's notes even say the image, story idea and OC were used with permission from NastasiaSolitude or StasySolitude as she signs off on her DeviantArt portfolio.
Many of my stories in the pipeline use her tale as cannon, so viewing it will help you become more grounded in the stories when I post these epics. It will take a while to get to them because even though they were originally the first ones I had ideas for, other ideas came to me that are chronologically earlier in our King's timeline and it made sense to do them first.
I bring all this up now because Stasy released a new piece of artwork (at the top of this blog) she did for the video back in October 2012 - 11 months before she published the video. This artwork was never released and she just recently found it. As far as I can tell from the earliest comments on it's deviant art page here, it was uploaded either the day of or the day after my birthday. What an amazing birthday present. Thank you, Stasy from the bottom of my heart for such a beautiful, tear-jerking tale of our beloved King.
Nice, it's too bad the show has pretty much confirmed that Sombra doesn't have a cutie mark, all those creative cutie marks I've seen on past Sombra art are now so outdated.
I always liked this video, it's always fun to see what others do for his background.

I've never understood why no one has made a comic yet of Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara making fun of him for that. It'd be a great comic, dontcha think? 
I can see Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara making fun of him. "Blank Flank! Blank Flank!"
"How dare you!" said Sombra. "I am the King of the Crystal Empire."
"Well, I didn't vote for you," answered Diamond Tiara.
"You don't vote for a King!" shouted Sombra.
"How'd you get to be King, then?" asked Silver Spoon."
"The Lady of the Crystals, her arms sheathed in sparkling diamonds, brought fourth Excalibur, signifying that I was to be King." explained Sombra.
Diamond Tiara scoffed. "If I went around saying that I was Queen because some flashy nag threw a knife at me, they'd put me away!"
"Shut up!' commanded Sombra.
"True power is derived from a mandate of the masses," continued Diamond Tiara. "Not from some farcical, glittery, ceremony!"
"Shut up!" repeated Sombra as he grabbed Diamond Tiara around the neck.
"Now you see the violence inherent in the system!" yelled Diamond Tiara.
"I command you to shut up!"
"Now you see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"
