Writing again · 3:38am Jan 9th, 2016
So I started writing again today for the first time since Christmas 
I've made some good progress into chapter 11, and hope to have something to post soon. Plus a number of factors with my job lined up oddly conveniently, so I'm actually going to have a lot more free time going forward. I'm hoping I'll be able to start weekly updates again soon, but I'm still not promising anything.
In other news, By Blood or Choice has been rejected from Equestria Daily 
They had a few grammatical complaints, which they were 100% correct about (I still need to fix them), and made a comment about Rainbow asking Fluttershy "Where the buck have you been?" which they said was out of character (specifically they said they can't imagine a situation where Rainbow would curse at Fluttershy). Since I wholeheartedly disagree with this I'm not planning on bothering with Equestria Daily in the future. My other stories feature similar uses of profanity, because come on, they're adults 
Although I find it hard to picture RD cursing at FlutterShy, if its just casual conversation it wouldn't be that out of character.

Hell, I write Fluttershy swearing herself on occasion. She's a grown mare fully capable of using adult language when she wants and certainly more than able to hear somepony else use it.
I dislike the idea that because she's shy and nice Fluttershy is oh so innocent and can't handle ponies swearing around her
3675402 I fully agree with that, but it usually seems like Rainbow doesn't get that message. It kinda shows in chapter 10 when Sunset told her the exact same thing. Since they knew each other so long Rainbow cant see pass the shy timid filly she use to be. I personally like FlutterShy the way you write her though.

Well, this is getting into the characters specifically in my story and not their personalities in show canon, but it's more so that Rainbow can't see past her need to protect Fluttershy. She knows Fluttershy is an adult, but still sees her as needing somepony to look out for her in certain situations. Harsh language not really being one of them.
Regardless, I'm not too worried about it. I thought it was a pretty ridiculous complaint, but if my stories aren't compatible with Equestria Daily's standards then so be it. I care more about having the story unfold how I envision it than getting it on ED. All I really care about is having a few people like you who'll read them and let me know what they think

Fimfiction is the best, in my opinion. Only benefit to fanfiction.net is that it features non-pony stories if you're looking for that. Equestria Daily isn't a bad place to look. They don't host stories, they link to stories on Fimfiction, difference being that they have an extensive screening process, so stories featured there will all be at least a certain quality (although my current opinion of them is a bit marred
But really, if all you want is fanfics I don't see much of a reason to look elsewhere. There's thousands of stories here, and the group/browse feature makes it fairly easy to find something you want so long as it's relatively broad. I can;t think of any desirable features the site doesn't have either.
There might be more sites out there, but I mainly deal with Fimfiction and Tumblr as my preferred fandom sites, and Tumblr is great for artwork, not so much for stories.
