I'm just rambling here...
So, in my last post, I said my grades were shit.
They still are, but I ended up not failing any of my classes after all! I got no F's and managed to get credit for all of them! Woo hoo!
My GPA still sucks, but it's not as bad as it could have been.
That's great to hear. Glad exams went well. They're stressful.
Good Job. Congrats on not failing
I thought all great writers were academic geniuses.

I suck at rote memorization, and I suck at remembering names (which is why I have character spreadsheets). Guess what Architectural History depends on?
My math professor was a horrible teacher who I couldn't understand, and who made no effort to make his voice, writing, or online note readable, and who often posted outright incorrect materials. I earned a D in that class teaching myself the material from the internet. The funny thing was, only 30% of the class actually regularly showed up, if even that much. When you see 3-4 times as many people on test day compared to a regular day, you know something is wrong.
The only thing I'm really good at is writing, be it software or fiction. My highest grades have been consistently in CS or English.

I think you had the mal-fortune of having a research phd as an educator.

I thought you're studying Computer Science? How does Architectural History fit into that?

An elective class that I took to meet my humanities requirement. Aside from foreign languages (which I didn't want to bother with), there wasn't much offered that semester that I really wanted to take. The class itself was fun and interesting, and I understood the broader topics and themes, I just had a bad time with the test format. I mean, five points: name the architect who built this building (that we discussed two months ago and whose name was only mentioned in passing), and then do three of four of those on a test. I can barely remember the names of people I work with on a daily basis; why the hell would I know that?.

Because one day, SkyNet will take over the world and secure internet access to all the important infrastructure using the names of dead architects as passwords, making them mandatory knowledge for every developer fighting against the machines. So hunker down and grab that history book, computer-soldier! The future depends on it!
