Sorry guys and gals, wait... are there any gals on this site? I don't know. Anyway, after over a month of working my flank off, at work, on the ranch, and for various odd jobs, to the point it was cutting in on eating and sleeping, I am dialing back a bit on the work. I had to replace some busted tools, and that requires green paper. You get funny looks if you try to use any random green paper though, even if it is the right size and shape. Well, lots of building, not eating lunch, and refraining from going anywhere other than work later, I have replaced my drill press, upgraded my metal cutting bandsaw, and even added a 3d printer to my collection. It is sitting next to me, printing off a set of pan pipes right now.
I will be playing with this thing a lot. After three years of trying to make one from recycled garbage, I finally just bought a kit. It is tough to recycle an H-bridge from a scanner. Every scanner uses a slightly different one, they all require different logic circuits, good luck finding data sheets for a chinese counterfeit, and I never got more than one stepper running at a time doing it that way. But the printrbot Simple is AWESOME! Only took Five hours to get up and running, and that includes disassembly and reassembly from installing somthing backwards halfway through, and fighting windows to get it to recognize the drivers.
Anyway, I will probably be spending a lot of time at my computer monitoring this thing, and making sure prints don't fail at critical points. That translates into more time to write, edit, and post Pony Stories. Woohoo!
