Wow, just wow.
I'll speak of the rest after the break. So watch out.
So what did I like?
Well, almost everything really, anything that bothers me is more nitpicky and can easily be counterpointed by the fact that this is still in fact a kids show that only has so much time for their episodes.
I was ecstatic to see King Sombra return, I didn't care he didn't get any lines, just seeing him in action and what would have happened if he hadn't been stopped, it was just chilling. Actually now up on reflection it might also give an alternative answer to why Celestia looked so pissed in that nightmare vision Twilight had in the Crystal Empire two parter, she was preparing for war, war she wasn't sure she could win. Maybe those were draft papers she was signing. 
And he's apparently been confirmed to not have a cutie mark. Somehow it just seems appropriate for the guy.
I was less excited bout Queen Chrysalis and Nightmare Moon, but still happy to see how their turns would be like. Though must admit it was fun how Nightmare Moon just went all "ooh time travel, you will show this to me."
The montage of bad futures was okay but nothing spectacular, they weren't very creative with Tirek, and well Discord was rather obvious.
Starlight Glimmer's redemption was okay in my book, I have to be honest, I give cartoons a lot of slack when it comes to resolving conflicts. I thought Twilight was convincing enough plus she had shown Starlight one bad future and thus planted a seed of doubt. Eh it worked for me anyway.
But anyway, as I said, thoroughly enjoyed this season Finale. Let's hope the hiatus won't be too long, oh well there are always pony stories to read in the meantime. 
I guess I am way on the other side of this from you. I found the whole thing to be crap. There was no real effort put into it, and when you compare it up to things like the 5th year anniversary and episode 100. It fails to hold even a glimmer of light to them.
