I just re-read Cost of Asylum. It's going to happen.
I also had the idea of a joke fic but not sure how it will work out. It's pretty cringe-y, but cracks me up none-the-less. I'll think on that one before I do any writing.

3573147 I'm about 3k words into the next chapter of sub, yes.
3573121 not really a sequel so much as I'll be expounding upon what's already there. I may go that route after I finish substitute, do my rewrite of crystal and combine them as I'd thought about doing. This one's just something I thought of while at work. These ideas hit me at the most awkward times.
I'm confused. What do you plan to do with Cost of Asylum? Are you going to make a new chapter or would you turn it into a full fledge story that details how Ares ends up in Equestria and became an Alicorn, or how Equestria fell, or how his relationship with the Sisters advanced? Also, would Twilight, and possibly Cadence assuming that Shining died of old age, exhibit interest in Ares?
3576453 For now just another chapter. Once I finish with Substitute I may make it a full-fledged story. Talk about how Ares first arrived, how he ends up with the name, and how a pegasus ends up as the Alicorn of War. And no, I don't plan on having Cadance pursue Ares, nor will Twilight. Both have other things to do, and even if Cadance went after him long in the future, it would likely be at least a century or three after her husband died. You don't lose your 'true love' and jump straight into another relationship. By then there should be a bit more of a selection
Geeze, this next chapter for Cost has turned into a full project, I'm already at 5k, and haven't even done any smut. I've even got several spots I can do that in, and I likely will. Also, there's your new chapter of Sub. I hope it's enjoyable.
Like I commented earlier, everyone seems to think Twilight is waiting a while before hooking up with Ares. I think it'd be a better idea if she's just whiling away the time for Ares and Luna's son Star Struck to grow up a bit before jumping his bones instead
