Haven't posted any blog posts in a while. ...I'm not dead yet...
But seriously, I am working on finishing up Not Dead yet; the next chapter is written, but there's only one more chapter after that so I'm trying to get them both done so that I can post the last two chapters within a couple days of each other. Unfortunately my tendency to get distracted is really slowing me down since I keep switching back and forth between the longer stories I'm writing, as well as much shorter slice of life side stories I keep having ideas for. Such as the little one-shot I posted today: Checklist Capers.
Checklist Capers is just a little fluff story from the Midnight Star universe and at only a little over 2000 words, it's the shortest story I've ever posted. For those that have read Midnight Star: The Frozen Empire, you may remember the events of Checklist Capers being mentioned in a single paragraph in that story.
As for the Midnight Star universe, I am still working on it but it is taking a while due to work taking a lot of my time. Working overtime every week for months can get tiring... good pay though. The first short story in Midnight Star: Recovery, which will be short stories covering the time right after Midnight Star: The Frozen Empire up until the start of Midnight Star and the Father of Light, is almost ready to be posted. I'll probably be posting those shorts as I finish them leading up to Midnight Star and the Father of Light. Interestingly enough, the first story in Recovery doesn't include any of the main characters of the series and instead introduces a few new characters that will be involved in The Father of Light. Other stories will tell of the birth of Midnight's daughter as well as Rainbow's son; Sweet Apple Acres' new farmhand; and also a little story involving a certain blue showmare that as of yet has not been in the Midnight Star series.
In the case of the Alicorn Imperium universe that started with Child of Misery. I am also working on the next story for that universe. Like I said, I have trouble focusing on one at a time. I think I've mentioned before that the next story in the Imperium universe features Apple Bloom as a primary character. After that however, the story of that universe has expanded considerably and will include a prequel story set during the purge and focusing on the interactions between Starswirl and Achlys. If you remember, in these stories Starswirl led the mortal races in rebellion against the alicorn imperium; but he didn't do it alone. Nor could they have won against the alicorns without Achlys' help. It's a story that would give a lot more depth to Achlys as a character.
In addition to those stories however I've had several other ideas that I've partially written already including two that go all the way back to the start of FIM and change something, and one that is... well it's probably the darkest story Idea I've ever had. I've only written part of the first chapter for that one, but it is brutal. And at the same time I've been working on another, non-MLP project that I may actually write a crossover with MLP since the characters are literally interdimentional explorers... and not human. I'm not doing a HIE story unless I have an idea for EQG.
So yeah, what this all comes down to is: I'm not dead. I just have really bad ADD. Heres some art:
