My friend Foals Errand has a friend who's run into a bit of a tight spot. To what I understand, the friend has a daughter (about five years old) who is currently in the care of her father. Foals' friend is divorced from her husband, so naturally the territory comes with custody battles. The husband, who has custody, moved to Arizona and then did something unspecified and fucked up hard enough so that he is no longer legally fit to care for the child any longer. However, because Foals and her friend live up in Washington, it costs a fuckton to go down to Arizona for the hearing to take place. If the mom's not at the hearing, the kid goes into foster care by default. For those of you not in the US, the United States Foster Care System is fucked to kingdom come. I speak as someone who has friends who were with foster parents, and the horror stories I've heard are crazy. And Hawaii is one of the tamer states.
Anyway, this girl has a chance to be able to live with her mother instead of just getting throw away like a piece of garbage into an uncaring system, and you guys can help!
