Friendship Games / National Novel Writing Month · 11:56am Oct 25th, 2015

Good news, everyone!

Two things: First, I saw Friendship Games at the cinema yesterday, and I've got to say it was much cooler watching it on the big screen than it was seeing it online. Not sure why, but I missed a lot of stuff the first time around. If you get a chance to go along with some friends I'd recommend it!

Secondly, I've decided to go for National Novel Writing Month this year :pinkiegasp: For those that don't know, the goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in one month (November). I wanted to go in for it the past two years, but I think I had trouble both in finding time and settling on an idea. This time around, the same things apply, but I'm gonna give it a shot anyway :twilightsheepish: I'll be keeping it pony, of course!

I've made a couple of mentions to an EQG fic that I've been working on - involving Sunset Shimmer and the Dazzlings - the first draft for which has gotten up to about 45,000 words now. Since writing that has made evident a whole bunch of plot issues, I've decided to rewrite it completely as my NaNo project. Which means that, in theory, it'll still be released for Christmas*, but it'll be a lot better than it was going to be.

*That's my goal, anyway. If it turns out I need a bit more time to edit and make it awesome, I might push it back to the new year. We'll see how it goes!

College work has got me bogged down, but I'm hopeful that I'll manage to keep on top of both that and my writing. I'm joining in with a local group of writers to help keep me motivated and inspired, and I'll post my progress here every week to let you know how it's going. Is anyone else here getting in on the event? I think EQD usually do a compilation post for it so keep an eye out for that.

My other project/s will be going on hold from now 'til after November (unless inspiration strikes randomly, as is its wont), to give me time to focus and plan properly. So for those waiting on A Slice Of Flutterdash, hang in there for a bit - I have one more chapter ready which I'm gonna look over and possibly post this week, but after that it'll be on a brief hiatus

That's all for the good news! Speak soon

Good luck! :pinkiehappy:

I've never done NaNoWriMo and I probably never will, since 50,000 words is about three years' output for me. :rainbowwild: But hey, it's about time someone added some pony to the mix for that thing.

I've attempted NaNoWriMo before, about 2 years ago, but i only wrote 3 sentences. and then i freaked out. and stopped. :applejackunsure:
so good luck to you!

3495449 Thanks! It's very... 'ambitious' even for me, especially considering I'm a little out of practise. I'll need that good luck :twilightsheepish:

3495847 I haven't even started yet and I'm already freaking out :twilightoops: It's going to be tough. Were you writing an original story or something pony?

3499901 original but it contained horses

3499969 Best of both worlds then! I've got half a dozen original ideas rolling around, but rather than trying to pin one of those down I'm using this as an excuse to create more fanfic :pinkiehappy: It's supposed to be less pressure, but it's still very nerve-wracking.

3502118 i attempted to plan out a novel
but it had no plot
aghh i cant write a good storyline

3503047 I am having exactly the same problem - I can't plan a novel based on an idea that doesn't have a proper plot :applejackunsure: I guess I'm just going to start writing in November and see whether something develops as I'm writing. That's usually how it goes with my stories, I guess. Just once it'd be nice to be able to have something planned out in advance though :derpytongue2:

Good luck with that NaNoWriMo thing. Hopefully, you'll be able to finish it in time.

As for your ASOFD update, what's the introspective we will see before it goes on hiatus?

3508993 Thanks! The next ASOFD is for 'May The Best Pet Win', and... actually, I think I'll post it today now that I've got a minute to go over it, so you can see for yourself shortly! EDIT: Here ya go! (Link)

This hiatus is going to absolutely kill me
