Monday VII: Applesapplesmondayapples · 4:20pm Oct 5th, 2015

It's Monday once again time for the Monday blog post! This time I'm going into a little more detail about the episode so this time have a spoiler warning.

**SPOILERS**
If you've seen the episode and are interested in my words then read after the break, otherwise just move along or come back later.

This week's episode titled "Context is for the Weak" "Brotherhooves Social" occurs during the events of last week's episode. With their sisters off to Manehattan Sweetie Belle and Applebloom are left without any partners for the upcoming Sisterhooves Social.

But never fear! Big Ma, er, Orchard Blossom is here!

Anyone getting a Big Momma's House vibe from this?

Overall I think this is a pretty interesting episode. Not only do we get to see Big Mac take up a long overdue major role we also get to see some parts of his character we've never seen before.

Besides the crossdressing [1] we also find out that he used used to spend with his little sister, Apple Bloom, and that he kind of misses that. In a way he seems slightly jealous of Applejack. Whilst he's stuck on the farm, tending to the crops and harvesting apples his sister is going out on adventures with her friends and Saving the Day from Evil Threats. Add to that how Apple Bloom seems to just blow him off I'd imagine that must hurt quite a bit.

Naturally, later when the opportunity arises, Big Mac jumps at the chance to bond with his sister by helping her to win the Sisterhooves Social. And this is where Orchard Blossom comes in, and things go crazy.

The competition turns out to be quit loose on their regulations. Though the event is for sisters we hear from Granny Smith that cousins are perfectly fine as well. This seems to work out all right in the beginning. The judges don't mind and Big Mac Orchard Blossom is allowed to compete.

So, Orchard Blossom spends most of this event focused on winning the competition. And with some stiff competition in the form of Best Sisters (Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash) I'm not surprised when he gets a carried away.

Although that might be a bit of understatement when you consider...

In the end he's disqualified, though not fer being a male as we'd expect but for destroying the course. It's also revealed that everypony already knew he was Big Mac.

Yeah, they're very loose on their regulations. He could've gone through the whole thing without a dress and it would've been just as well. Good job Big Mac, you made a fool of yourself for nothing.

This whole episode is pretty much ludicrous. There are a lot of cringe worthy moments, also a lot of fun moments, and pure adorable moments.

We also get some good ScooterDash as they compete in the competition as well.

It's a good random episode, with a mix of different elements. Though not the best of the season it's still enjoyable to watch, and I rather like these expansions on Big Mac's character.

Anyone else got something they liked/disliked about this episode? Comment below, I'd love to hear what everyone has to say!

[1] New head-canon: Big Mac is secretly a drag queen, already owned that costume, and has put in countless hours perfecting a southern accent.

Nothing to argue with there. Though I'm not big on big mac.

I like Big Drag'n'posh, I just think there are better stallions out there.

3446681 I think at this point, both Macareina and Big Drag'n'posh are two different R63 of the same character. Macareina is a more feminine version of Big Mac while the latter is clearly drag.

Ah. I didn't know Macareina was already a thing.
