FUN FACT: Before 2010, when My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic first aired, there was no such thing as the Sun or the Moon. Without the sunlight necessary for photosynthesis, there were no plants and no farms. We humans survived on a diet of rocks, and sometimes resorted to cannibalism when we got bored.
After Celestia and Luna brought the Sun and the Moon to our realm, they used a memory-wipe spell taught to them by Starswirl the Bearded to make sure that no one knew it was them who had lit up the sky, and that no one even remembered the way things once had been.
The princesses wanted us to discover friendship for ourselves, rather than heap blind praise upon them for illuminating us. The task is now upon us to build a better world, and put our savagery behind us.
Search your feelings. You know this to be true. It is the only rational explanation.

How did you learn of the truth?! We of the Herd must spread the word of Friendship, Love and Tolerance. Once the world has received the message and embraced it, the Diarchy will return, convert us all again to ponies and unite the three tribes once again!
That sounds so real when you write that. I know that the truth is very much different, though.
