Mariusioannesp Speculates Wildly: Season 5 Episodes 14 and 15 and a Further Announcement · 6:16pm Aug 20th, 2015

Greetings my Brony brethren!

We got some exciting news last week. I waited to see if there would be anything more, but alas, there wasn’t. Anyway, the pony drought is nearing a close and soon great clouds of MLP will come to rain down a monsoon of ponies upon us!

Basically, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic will be back on September 12th to finish out the rest of Season 5. Not only that, but we also have synopses for Episodes 14 and 15 to speculate wildly about.

September 12th Episode 14

Episode: Canterlot Boutique
Synopsis:

Rarity's dream of owning a boutique in Canterlot finally comes true, but it comes at a price Rarity may not be willing to pay.

September 19th Episode 15

Episode: Rarity Investigates!

Synopsis:

Rarity must prove that her friend is innocent when Rainbow Dash is accused of a crime that she did not commit.

Now as with pretty much every previous episode so far, both these episode titles appeared on the rumored episode list for Season 5. However, for the first time, we have a mild deviation from the list. According to the list, Episode 15 was supposed to be “Scare-Master.” Here, it is “Rarity Investigates!”, which was listed as Episode 16 on the rumored list. It’s probably nothing major. They just changed the order of the episodes. It happens all the time I imagine.

I’ve speculated before on “Canterlot Boutique,” which I can now at least confirm with certainty is an episode. I speculated in the aforementioned previous blog that it could entail Rarity starting her destined boutique in Canterlot, but she might realize it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. I seem to be right on the money in that regard. Anyway, it still sounds like a really interesting episode.

As for “Rarity Investigates!”, I didn’t have much to speculate on based on the title because it’s rather vague. Here, it is revealed that it is about Rarity having to prove Rainbow Dash innocent of a crime she’s accused of committing. This looks like it might be MLP’s token Noir Episode. Rarity is a rather appropriate choice for such an episode. With her sense of fashion, I’d like to see how she pulls off the film noir look. The most interesting thing though is that Rainbow Dash is accused of doing something wrong here. One of the chief criticisms fans have had in some of Rainbow Dash’s episodes is that she never suffers the consequences for some of the things she does. “Tanks For the Memories” is the most recent example of this. I could imagine there could be a scene where a bunch of ponies start rattling off some of the things Rainbow has done, and she’d be like “Alright! I may have done all those things, but I didn’t do this!” It could be an indication that the writers are paying attention to some of the fans’ gripes, though I’ve never thought they had that much merit to them. Rainbow Dash’s status as the falsely-accused victim is also reminiscent of Turnabout Storm, one of the biggest crossover projects the fandom has ever seen. Is that perhaps just a coincidence?

With this reordering of episodes, it looks like we’re going to have two Rarity episodes in a row. “Rarity Investigates!” though could very well be a Rarity and Rainbow Dash episode. I don’t think in the entire history of the show so far have we ever had a Rarity and Rainbow Dash episode. They’ve never really interacted that much. That would be something.

So, those are my thoughts on what to expect from MLP when it returns. What do you all think about what these episodes are about?

And now for a further announcement! As many of you may be aware, I announced recently that I was starting a blog on LiveJournal to voice my thoughts on the things that rattle about my brain that aren’t MLP related. Mostly, it’s Once Upon A Time, but there will be other things I’m sure. Like how Netflix is changing television and strengths and weaknesses of the MCU vs DC’s burgeoning cinematic universe. Anyway, attempting to blog on LiveJournal did not yield the results I was hoping for. I admit, I rushed onto the LiveJournal bandwagon mainly because George R.R. Martin is on LiveJournal. Perhaps it’s not a good idea to do things just because George R.R. Martin does it too. LiveJournal is very confusing to use, and posting things to LiveJournal’s communities is also confusing. Each community has it’s own rules, and you have to format it in a particular way, but the editing wouldn’t take for some reason. Plus, things we take for granted even here like the view counter at the bottom is only part of a paid account on LiveJournal.

Anywho, I started considering other blogging platforms for blogging about things extra MLP, when it occurred to me that I had started a blog last year on Blogger through my Google account. So after tweaking that until I was satisfied with how it looked, I am ready to try Take Two at starting a blog for my interests outside of MLP. I am proud to announce the launch of The Second Thing by MariusIoannesP. Right now, I have posted a headcanon about the nature of Rumpelstiltskin and Regina’s relationship on Once Upon A Time that I hope will blow the minds of every OUAT fan that reads it.

I hope those of you who have an interest in any of the things I’ve mentioned will consider checking it out and commenting on it or whatever.

God bless you all. God bless America. And God bless Equestria.

It's interesting how the MLP and Doctor Who droughts are coming to a close incredibly close to each other. If Part 2 of MLP Season 5 had started on the same day as the premiere of DW Series 9, then that would have been valid proof that there's a big Doctor Whooves supporter working on the MLP crew. Man, who could predict that two such vastly different shows would one day be connected in such subtle, bizarre ways? If I went back in time to the 80's and starting talking about how MLP/DW crossovers would be popular one day, I expect people would look at me like I was insane. Granted, I'm already a bit insane but aren't we all? :pinkiecrazy:

Definitely looking forward to the new episodes. I've missed my weekly dose of MLP. I need my pony fix, man!

Speaking about your OUAT headcannon, it is very interesting and you make some pretty good points. But I don't know. The idea of Rumplestiltskin being Regina's father doesn't really sit well with me. I can't quite explain it but the idea rubs me the wrong way. And it's clear that, while she was controlling and evil at the time, she had a pretty loving and close relationship with her (thus far) confirmed father Prince Henry. So much so that he was "the thing she love most" that she had to destroy in order to enact the Dark Curse. Though, to jump on your side for a moment, this relationship, I'll admit, could be given an interesting layer if it were revealed that Regina was Rumplestiltskin's biological daughter instead of Henry's. Maybe we could get a flashback of Henry learning this from Cora and see Henry love Regina in spit of her not being his own. It could show a lesson that, oddly enough, connects it with Mr. Peabody and Sherman of all movies. Let me explain.

Overall, Mr. Peabody and Sherman is a fun and entertaining animated film. But there's one element of the film that was absolutely fantastic: the relationship between Mr. Peabody and Sherman. The film showed that adopted children can have an equally loving and fulfilling relationship with their adopted parents as other children can have with their biological parents. OUAT could potentially show this message in it's own way, which would be quite interesting to see.

3335251 Well, I mean, on Once Upon A Time we have already seen how adopted children can have just as loving relationships with their adoptive parents. It was Regina's true love for Henry that broke the second curse that brought back Storybrooke in the back half of Season 3. Having this have been the case with Regina being just as loved by her possibly adoptive father Prince Henry would just another layer of poetry to it. At least to me. I don't why this idea doesn't seem popular. I remember watching "The Miller's Daughter" for the first time and suddenly thinking to myself a few days later, "Wait a minute! What if Rumpelstiltskin is Regina's actual father?"
