...Well, durn. · 8:54pm Aug 18th, 2015
Y'know, just yesterday I had been happily thinking to myself that since I was nearing the end of Rise and Fall, I'd finally be able to devote myself wholeheartedly to some of my other projects (among others, an original xenofictional story (somewhere around a 4.5 or 5 on the Mohs scale of science fiction hardness) set approximately five hundred billion years in our future, an attempt to write a version of the Necronomicon true to that described in Lovecraft's writings, including the 800+ pages, and a sidescrolling Metroidvania game without either combat or jumping*).
...And then today I had a really good idea for another ponyfic, and, well...Yeah. Confound these ponies, they drive me to write. It's only an idea as yet, mind, and I don't know when or even if I'll tackle it, but a third story from Dromicosuchus may end up coming along sooner than Dromicosuchus, at least, had thought it would. Obviously I'm not ready to reveal much about it yet, but I can say that it's not the Berry Punch adventure I joked about in the Rise and Fall comment thread, and neither is it set in the Mendaverse continuity. I'm thinking of calling it "A Mediocre Mare," but that might change. It'll be about Celestia.
*I'll make it work, dagnabbit. They called me mad; well, I'll show them. I'll show them all!
I'd love to see a Celestia-focused piece from you.
A Dromicosuchus story about best princess? Count me in!
Also, aren't/weren't you planning a sort-of sequel to Mendacity?
I'm suddenly extremely excited for vague and nonspecific reasons.
Naw, it's because I wanna hear what you got to say about Celestia.
I look forward to reading it.
I'm with 3329710, and 3330051. Celestia goodness from you would be absolutely wonderful.
Well, I'm always glad to see more of your writing, even if it's sadly not that Berry Punch idea.
I admire the sentiment but would it even be a metroidvania game without those elements?
Glad y'all are intrigued by the idea! As I said, it's early days yet, but I believe I've got something interesting here.

"Planning" is probably taking things too far, but I did (and do) have some ideas about that, yes. Nothing concrete, though. At present, the closest thing to a Mendacity sequel is the collaborative work I've done with Wanderer D for The Sweetie Chronicles.

It's the exploration and the steady unlocking of more areas to explore via the acquisition of new abilities that I'm working on preserving. As to whether combat can be done away with and still keep the game true to teh genre...well, that remains to be seen.

Looking forward to whatever you do next. My unread story folder was getting slim. I came here to find another story by you, having read Mendacity and The Rise and Fall of the Dark Lord Sassaflash. I will have to be patient.
I love the audacity of your characters. I've read Mendacity to my kids and I am eager to read them the final line of Rise and Fall (we have some other reading to get through before we can start on it).
