Scratching Itch (Also, Where Do You Come From?)

Wow, the votes were pretty scattered. Oh well, we had a couple come up above the rest. I have an idea that I will be working on when I can. Something quick and dirty, just for the sake of getting it out and posting something.

Have an Itch (Vote for Best Pony)

I have that niggle in the back of my brain telling me to write. However, I'd like a little warm-up exercise before jumping back into any major projects.

So, because it worked so well the last time, let's do this again. Vote for best pony! Preferably none that I have or are currently writing about.

Let me know in the comments below.

Where the Hell Have I Been!?

    Hey guys.

Unfortunately writing has been completely dormant as I've hit the insane schedule regarding three jobs that pick up when the weather is warm on top of other projects. In fact, I'm convinced that I've actually messed myself mentally through all of this.

Long Blog Post · 4:48pm Aug 7th, 2012

It has recently come to my attention that people like when I write long things, as evidenced by the feedback of the latest chapter of Room 213. Well then, I will be making this blog post extra long so I hope you enjoy it.

Kicking off this long blog is a notice that I wrote a short little something for the Sexty Minute Pony tumblr. While I'd love to contribute more to it when I can, I can't promise they'll be my best work or that I'll write for every one of them. I'll only do the ones I'm able to get ideas for and have time. With school starting soon and other projects, that might not be a lot, honestly.

Will I post the stories here? No. There is a 'whirringgears' tag (all one word) that you can use to search for me. And while you're there, why not peruse some of the other fine submissions?

EDIT: I'm a liar. I will have an available collection of these prompts on my site coming up. However, I will not post a story until the next prompt is given. If you want to see any stories I have written for it, please check the tumblr.

Next, back in May I had held a contest to name the pony in No Need For Words. I had forgotten to name the winner of that contest, and I apologize. The winner is rockah12 with his suggestion of Pulse. Congratulations!

Will the other ponies I write about get naming contests? Only some of them in the future. Number One and Room 213 have already been named in my mind and I want to name drop in later stories so you may be able to go "Oh, that's who that is!" Or maybe I'll do something else entirely.

Speaking of future stories, a little question for you all. Room 213 is definitely not going to be the last thing I write save for me getting murdered or in a horrible accident. In case of that event, I have a will leaving the passwords to my Fimfiction and google doc accounts to a trusted friend with instruction to release them to the public.. After Room 213, I'm thinking about doing what some authors do and have multiple stories going at the same time.

Will this cut down on my already scarce update frequency? I imagine it'd be quite the contrary due to the fact that I already waste a lot of time with writing things for other projects I'd like to do. However, I'd like to listen to the thoughts and concerns of my watchers who may have seen another author attempt to do this and have seen them crash and burn in a giant flaming pile of inactivity. So if you're a professional fanfiction reader and have seen this before, speak up so that I may know the dangers of what I may be about to do. If you think this is a good idea and want two, possibly three stories going at the same time, feel free to speak up as well in support.

Last announcement is that, like I said earlier, school's starting again. Will this cut down on my already scarce update frequency? I hope not, because this is the semester! The semester I roll up my sleeves, stop wasting time, and shit better inform it's next of kin, because it'll be as good as done.

What I mean is that I'll be trying to get more on a schedule while I'm on campus. Balance work and school, take some time to be social, get in shape, and perform some of my other hobbies. I will besetting aside some time for writing, don't worry. Remember when I was asking for phone advice? (No? Don't blame you.) I'll be using that as a little writer on the go. (Thanks for the people who gave advice!)

So that's everything going on currently. Thank you all, my watchers, for your support and I hope to continue to entertain you!

hey whirring gears i was just wondering if there could be a chance you could write a romance fic about chrysalis and some oc but yeah their kinda rare and i think you'd be a excellent writer for the job so if you can thx and if you cant STILL thx because room 213 is awesome:yay::yay:

Yes, write more long things!

what do you mean by a 'whirringgears' tag?
Is it a tag here on fimfic, or do i drop that into Google?

263455
It's a tag on their tumblr that you can type into their search.

263470 well then I have more reading materials.

263440
There's been talk about something like that in the main group I'm involved in. However, I'm afraid that I personally have no plans currently for writing such a fic myself.

263477alright THE SEARCH CONTINUES!!!:rainbowkiss:

I quite enjoyed this long blog as it had many nice words in it. Allow me to name a few of my favorites: a, I, on, the, and is. Thank you.

Personally, I'd find it hard not to write a million fics at once just because of my brain. Do whatever works for you though. To each his own.

Well I've read easily over 4 million words of ponies. I think I classify as professional. xD

In my experience it depends more on the author, I find that you get a 'spark' for certain stories and you can't write anything else until you write that one. Or other times you'll need to take a short break from the current one and write something with a different setting and intent to give your brain a sort of 'cool-down' period.

I say go for multiple stories at once. There's only one way to find out what is going to work, try it!
