Leaving Camp Behind. · 10:57pm Jul 16th, 2015
You know, in hindsight, I probably should have realized before I started Camp NaNoWriMo that one of my greatest weaknesses when it comes to writing is time. While I am naturally a pantser, I typically work off of a loosely-based plan in my head and take time to work out scenes and moments in vague bullet points, I am typically the type who works off of momentum. If I can't get momentum going--or have no earthly idea of what I aim to do--I will typically drop a project like a piping hot pancake.
Such is the case with my attempt at a NaNoWriMo, Mistaken Heredity (AKA, Building Bridges). The reason I couldn't quite make it with this one is simple:
Because it's all to similar to a work I'm already doing, only nowhere near as engaging to write.
For those who are curious, I'll happily post what I managed to make, and if you think it has potential, feel free to tell me.
For now, I'm getting on the bus away from Camp NaNoWriMo, and hope that mayhaps November will provide more fruitful endeavors.
It was a fun experiment, but I am still not quite ready to win it. For now, I will keep to my focus on existing works in the hopes I can finish them. While I am nowhere close to Endgame with Hand in Hoof, I certainly have ideas for how to end it. At the moment, however, there are arcs yet unfinished and places yet unseen.
Stick around, my lovelies, and mayhaps we'll reach the end of the road together.
