Thoughts on the new episode (S5E13: "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?") · 6:03pm Jul 11th, 2015
I don't think I've laughed...or cried...as much as I have during a My Little Pony episode as I did with this one. My God, it was the perfect balance of hilariousness and seriousness. This could have been a disaster of an episode, but holy fuck it was the exact opposite. It was AMAZING.
First off, ten points for the Philip K. Dick reference. This episode answers the age-old question, "Who watches the watcher?" Or more specifically, "Just what kind of nightmares does Nightmare Moon have?" And holy shit I did not expect to get such a serious answer. Princess Luna, creating an entity known as the Tantibus (which, by the way, is Latin for "nightmare"), as a means of everlasting punishment, to constantly remind her of the pain and suffering she caused, so that she may never become Nightmare Moon again...
That ending with Luna's confession made me cry, I'll admit. Guilt and self-punishment can manifest in very ugly ways. I know from experience. I've done some pretty horrible stuff to myself as a means of punishing myself for doing some pretty horrible stuff to other people, so I guess I can identify with this kind of situation.
All those...moments...will be lost in time, like...tears...in rain...
But when I wasn't crying, I was laughing.
Holy fucking shit, I was laughing so hard.
I mean, with Giant Derpy, LyraBon, Princess Big Mac, Evil Angel, Dashie's nightmare, and so much more...where to even fucking begin?
This might just be my new favorite episode. Sorry, "Slice of Life," but this episode of a cartoon horse program made me laugh and cry so hard that my sides hurt and I still have tears in my eyes.
10/10, seriously. That episode was fucking perfect. So many feels! SO MANY GODDAMN FEELS!
Yeah, that was pretty good.
I agree, laughing hard and feeling hard all the way through
Plus my hands down favorite moment of the entire show
