The end is near, and what I intend to do about it. · 12:58pm Jul 10th, 2015

AGP has nearly run its course. The tale of a background pony sex enthusiast and her primate love interest has not only achieved modest ratings success, but garnered respect from other users on the site. Actual respect for a story is really hard to get. That isn't a criticism or conjecture, it's just true. Meaningful comments are generally relegated to the privileged few who get their stories to catch fire. So to those who've left comments on A Gentleman's Price, I offer a sincere thank you. Whether it's been a basic assessment of where everything stands at the end of a chapter, a heartfelt compliment on a particular angle, or just encouragement to keep writing, it's all been useful and occasionally influenced the story itself. Even my one rather surly poster, who left negative feedback, kept me focused on improving what I'm writing and being sensitive to different perceptions.

I suppose, the one question I would have as a reader is why the hell is Applejack not in it. An AJ Aficionado should have at least something to say about AJ, right? Why is my editor the guy who is giving all the glory to Applejack's bottomless well of epic badass and not me?

Well, I don't really have anything interesting to say about her. And my entire life is a lie! :raritydespair:

Eh, I'm sure I'll get around to her one day. My real reason is there are so many good stories about her that already exists, who really cares what I think? From the start, I've viewed story writing from the lens of "this needs to be a thing" rather than a "I like this character, let me tell you why" angle. Sure Applejack is awesome, but you already knew that. :ajsmug:

Once I'm done with AGP, I have a few possible options for a next story I have in mind: I could write that Roseluck/Lily one-shot I mentioned before, tack on a few sex scenes to the end of AGP for added fun, or start work on a new, humongous story. Instead, I'm taking a break and actually reading some of these stories others have made. I've actually been accused by a well-known group that collects "good" stories of making AGP, a hack re-tread of other stories that came out around the same time. The sad thing is, I can't disprove that because I haven't been reading anything! It's entirely possible that AGP is unimaginative, and I got caught up the zeitgeist. Or would that be the clopgeist? In any case, I need to read all of the things.

I'm also considering re-reading Fallout Equestria — that thing I said I wasn't going to do, but ah screw it — and blogging my thoughts about it. I'll be perfectly honest, it's more for my own benefit than anyone else. There's a lot to say about the 600,000+ word, radioactive hell of post-apocalyptic Equestria, and blogging about it seems as useful an outlet as any other. It's quite possibly the best fanfiction ever written and yet unnnnnnggggh! You know what I mean? It's not a pleasant ride, people! :pinkiesick:

tl:dr. Two more chapters after the next one I post up this morning, and I'll write something else... eventually. Have some more Roseluck, you magnificent bastards!

Appreciate the shout-out! And I do have an answer: it's because Applejack is a surprisingly tricky character to work with sometimes, and G4M already established her as something of a prude who didn't much care for Gentlemen.

I'm not so constrained in Turnabout Storm or The Lawyer and The Unicorn, both of which feature a few scenes with a decidedly less prudish version. My Applejack has a rather original take, namely that she's very direct and honest in all facets of her life, unafraid to speak her mind or act on her impulses, including sexual ones. To me, that's the purest form of honesty right there. :) She likes you, she'll have you and make no bones about it... as both Soarin and Rainbow Dash have learned! If and when AJ comes to earth, watch out! :pinkiegasp:

Congrats on getting close to the end! It's been a pleasure to help you through this. You have learned your lessons well and continue to improve steadily.
