New "Thousand Tales" Story: "Luminous" · 7:52am Jul 7th, 2015
I'm trying Camp NaNoWriMo this month, and taking the chance to write more stuff in the same world as the last novel.
Here is the first 10K words or so of "2036: Luminous", in which a native companion AI encounters a problem I haven't seen in the Optimalverse: she became intelligent, and then her designated human died. Now what? The password is "malfunctioning_octagon", from Eakin's excellent "A Taste of the Good Life" on this site.
Before this month I wrote "2036: Knights of the Rat", in which a charity organization in Ethiopia has the backing of a game-obsessed AI, and its lead engineer has to take a crash course on guerrilla warfare. If I manage to do a full book I'll probably have that first, then "Luminous", and then move farther ahead on the timeline. (Though I have an unfinished story set in 2035 that may or may not fit.)
Unrelated: The Last Crusade by CyborgSamurai has been completed. I haven't read the last parts yet but I enjoyed the rest.
Optimalverse-related: CelestAI's hobby.
LOL. Complete with mouseover text, "The Singularity happened, but not to us."
