Okay, I've been on this site long enough to notice that chapters tend not to have an equal number of views. It's common for chapters to actually decrease in views as the story goes on as people stop reading for various reasons.

What the heck happened with ch 3???
That throws up so many red flags in my book it's not even funny. I get the impression that someone hit it with a program designed to open and close it 6,000 times. (judging by the statistics page, they did it the day it was posted)
Has anyone seen this before? Why did this occur? What (if anything) should I do about it?
I'm tempted to delete ch 3 entirely and just re-post it tomorrow when i post ch 4. What do you think?
It's something of a glitch with the latest site maintenance. I had 1,700 views hit one of my stories randomly as well

I think they were doing maintenance last Thursday too.
I've seen smaller spikes like that before, never anywhere close to 6,000 before though. (like less than 1,000).
Think it's nothing to worry about?
I was going to say, this was just after the server migration and you're not the first author I follow who has mentioned this.
Still, it is the biggest jump!
Personally, I wouldn't delete it, mostly because it'll kill any comments made on it as well.

It's just the program going through all the stories and correlating all the data. The views will get taken off after some time if I remember correctly (plus I haven't seen any completely random stories pop up in the featured box, so it's not like they're being counted
Deleting and reposting chapters is probably a bad idea unless you have a really good reason. The site can get kind of confused. The statistics maybe being messed up isn't a very good reason.
Just let it settle out for a few weeks and if it doesn't correct itself deal with it then. I'm sure the others are right about it glitching.
I agree with Etherealunessence, I've heard of other stories that got odd view counts last week too.

You guys are probably right, I have a few concerns about it but I'll let it be for now.
Maybe I'll see about contacting a site admin and removing a few thousand views from ch 3 so it's more in line with the rest of the story lol.

Eh, you should be fine. The mods here seem rather touchy about reposting things. (Not that I find any fault with our great internet pony overlords for it, as I can understand how easy it might be to artificially inflate the ratings or get more views or what not by manipulating that, so they come down hard on it.)
I wouldn't do anything about it, as you are more likely to cause problems more for yourself than to fix this relatively minor one. If they really have a problem with a bunch of stories having extra views such as this, they'll fix it from their end. If they think someone intentionally did it, hopefully they will take this post as proof that it wasn't you. You're fine.
Maybe they tried to find the clop and tough it would be in chapter 3
