Early New Year's resolutions, and Old Year's conclusions

Well, another year's come and gone. How did the resolutions go? Half and half in my case. Managed to partially accomplish what I set out to do, moving from wondering how to do things to figuring out what to do. I believe I've successfully identified the habits that are hampering or even harmful to me, so that's progress.

    Resolutions for the new year?

Summer update 2: What's Sticking to the Wall?

    Quick update on future plans.

Still working on the original stuff, I think I'm down to the last rewrite of what I wanted to do, only question is what to change in terms of details. Art's had some progress, but work responsibilities and sweet, sweet sleeping problems have caused disruptions.

    Summer update: what next?

Honestly? Not sure. I never publish anything that's not complete, so I'm not breaking any promises there. Thing is, I haven't started on anything new yet, and hadn't lined anything up before the previous one.

June update: more delays, more shame. · 7:14am Jun 25th, 2015

A little earlier than usual, but with the new Season I figured people would be more likely to read this stuff if it's farther away from new releases. Let me start off by saying that, yes, I did catch the fact that episode 100 aired, and I got a spoiler through a DA group that the next episode was Spike-centered and involved him as a princess, somehow. Don't know the whole story, don't care, waiting for August as usual.

Anyway, on to last month's stated goals:

-re-read Flight Camp, as cringe-inducing as it may be to read older works, and finish Warrior Meet.

Hah, that's a laugh. I've gotten over half of the fighting lessons for the Ponyville Junior Ninjas (CMC + two boys) done, and I'm writing the Whimper subplot in one separate chunk, so it's easier to keep track of. But it's not done, not by a long shot. Haven't even re-read the original yet.

-finish the editing on the novel. Again, way too long in the making.

Again, silly me. It's a trainwreck at the moment. I'm going to have to revise it from the concept stage at this point, it just doesn't work.

-make cover art for the Quorum Sensing sequels and publish them. It's been way too long.

Well... with regards to cover art:

Behold the Scootascapefig... thingie

This is the Inkscape version of it, and I know what you're gonna say: "Cracker, that shit is dope, it ain't finished." Well, actually it is, sort of. This is what I intend to import into Synfig and possibly rig for animation or posing. The nostril and mouth are not strictly necessary at this stage, and in fact I've found it a lot easier to adjust the shapes in Synfig than it is in Inkscape. Well, mouth, at least. I left out the nostril out of pure laziness, I guess. Anywho, the reason the eyes come out of the face is similar: clipping doesn't work the same way in Synfig, and I wanted to keep the basic shape of the left eye intact. That's also why you see an orange edge over the eye: that's the eyelid. In Synfig, you can set layers to project unto other surfaces, so once set up, I should be able to make blink shapes just by adjusting the eyelid shape.

As for rigging and the stick figure... I think I know how they made the original stick figure rig now, not sure if I can use it at all.

But yeah, the first Quorum Sensing sequel will have its own cover art soon, I can use this base to make a Rumble figure easily enough, and hopefully some bat ponies rousettes for the second one.

Oh, and looking for a real job. Obviously. No real news on that front, still.

Got a couple of options to try working for the government. We'll see if they'll have me. Making money off the novel will take too long, anyway.

As for the rest: no real progress on exercise, a little more progress on meditation, but no program followed. Hearthstone-wise, I've managed to successfully drop to rank 20 and see no real reason to want to get out of it, unless I want to try and make a Basic-only deck for shits and giggles.

The Yu-Gi-Oh fanfic I pitched last month: got some Structure decks, I think I've got the basics of the game down now, at least enough to write about it. I think I'd rather do a quick oneshot soon, though, just to stop from slipping into obscurity. Filly model's not that much better than before, still having trouble getting the arms and shoulders right. Synfig first now, Blender later, so Filly's on the backburner for the umpteenth time. But hey, the creator of Filly was nice enough to have a chat with the small fandom, that was interesting.

So, in conclusion, it's been a month with a lot of procrastination.

Normally this is where I'd post my goals for next month, but given the circumstances, I think I'd rather just stick the old ones and only post when I get new things on my list.

As always, comment for others to see, PM for me to see, no spoilers, please.
