If you like D&D stuff, or just tabletop rpg stuff in general, one of the people I follow online is trying to get funding to create something to sell for Dungeon Masters to increase immersion.

    Happy Holidays

This is your yearly reminder that I wrote a decently funny Christmas story in the long-ago times. If you haven't read it, you should! If you have read it, maybe you should just stick with blurred memories of how good it was.

    Books!

So, due to my high level connections here and there, I now have an advance copy of several highly sought after ponyfic books. Now that I've had a chance to check several of them out in person, I have to say that Ponyfeather Publishing does excellent work. Anyone able to pick one up, at Bronycon or ordering them afterward, should totally do so.

Last Week on City Of Doors 7/7/2019

So, I've actually been posting on my primary blog lately. Which has been nice, given that I've pulled myself out of depression enough to actually do stuff like that. So, here's been my daily content over there:

Family Matters by Aragon

I really liked this one. Not only is it funny with good characters, but I’ve got a soft spot for stories in this style. All dialogue (mostly, anyway) where any of the activities going on are described by the characters talking instead of explicitly shown. This author remains one of my personal favorite fanfic authors. This would make a great short animation, or even better as a audio play. I just re-read it again while writing this and it’s still as funny the second time. I actually read this one before I read Hell Of A Time. In fact I’ve read this one -twice- before I even touched that one. This one is the superior comedy in my opinion.

Another one I read from time to time.

Fluttershy Discovers Animal Crackers by Art Inspired

Pretty much what the title says. Would make a neat animation, even if it’s not long enough for a full episode. Would make a fun b-plot for an episode though. I found it funny and it lasts just as long as it needs to without wearing out the joke

The Conversion Bureau by Blaze
[story no longer on FimFiction] [my original review]

This is badly written. I only got maybe a third of the way into it before giving up. I have no idea why or how this got popular enough that I’ve heard about it so much. Project Sunflower is pretty much the exact same premise/plot/setting except that the story is both interesting and well-written. I would recommend skipping this one.

Forecast by Jondor
[story link] [my original review]

Somewhat interesting premise, but kind of mediocre execution. Probably not worth reading unless you are a big Applejack and Rainbow Dash relationship fan. Not that it would be to read this if you weren’t. Mostly bland with a few funny jokes here and there. Worth reading, just don’t expect too much.

Unrequited Lust by DawnFade
[story link] [my original review]

Fun little story. The ending is what makes it memorable. Not that it would be bad as-is without the last little bit, but it would be much more forgettable. If you liked Bitter Harvest, you will probably enjoy this one.

As always, The Big Master Review List is here: { THE MASTER LIST }
If you know of a text-format reviewer I'm not keeping track of, please let me know and I'll see if they meet the criteria to be assimilated into the list.

If you are an author who wants a more detailed review of a story I've covered feel free to message me. My reviews tend to be fairly light, mostly just reactions to a story right after reading it. I am happy to give a more careful read and reply to anyone who wants more precision and/or feedback.
