Some Updates Regarding SS:MMDW · 7:28pm Apr 23rd, 2015
So yeah, it's been over a month since the last chapter was posted. I apologize for taking so long to update the story. I was suffering from a case of writer's block in trying to decide the circumstances in which Sunset Shimmer befriends the pony she hates the most, Twilight Sparkle. On top of that, I was frequently getting sidetracked, facing a ton of distractions that kept me from staying focused. I'm happy to report that I've got another chapter ready to post. I just need to do some proofreading and small revisions where necessary, and hopefully it'll be up by the weekend. That is, if I don't get sidetracked even further. 
The "Wayward Sun" arc, which explains Sunset's backstory, was originally going to be three chapters long, with the final chapter ending with the beginning of Sunset's friendship with Twilight. Part 3 ended up being longer than I anticipated, so I'm splitting it into two parts. Part 3 is almost ready to be posted, and I'm getting some progress done on Part 4, where Sunset decides to talk things out with Twilight. Don't worry: we'll get back to Sunset kicking some bad guy flank soon! 
Finally, for those that aren't aware, last week, some script kiddies on Twitter deluded themselves into thinking that they could "enhance the Internet" by launching DDoS attacks on pony sites. FIMFiction was one of the sites they hit, and it was out of commission for a full day. Even after Knighty got the site back up, implementing Cloudflare as a safeguard against future attacks kept it temporarily unavailable for some users (myself included). As a result, I've also decided to upload the story to my DeviantArt page. As of now, the first three chapters are up, and the rest will be posted over time. Once the DeviantArt version catches up with the FIMFiction version, both will be updated simultaneously as I finish chapters.
