Note Sketch

Note here, not much to say other than I love to write. My dyslexia is a huge obstacle when it comes to that, but I still enjoy sharing my stories, especially about King Sombra, my favorite villain!

    New End

So we all know I took forever and a half to update Sweetie's Shadow. Believe you me, I wanted to update the story for a long long time, but I couldn't get the chapter how I wanted. Finally, after basically finishing the update, I sort of rushed the last part and it's very noticeable.

    Been a While Hasn't It?

So it's been a minute since my last blog. My last update hasn't exactly been recent either huh? I suppose I've only myself to blame there. I should have guessed that getting a promotion would include a huge amount of extra responsibilities along with it. (Yay for my second promotion!) Still, I can't help but feel like I've all but abandoned FimFiction.

    Little Update

Okay, so ya'll know that I've been updating a little less rapidly than I originally planned. That does not mean I've given up on the fic by any means, but it does hint that things will be rather slow. Which in it of itself isn't bad, yet I feel the need that I should probably clear up a few things.

    Luna's powers

With Episode 13 out for a while now, I've had some time to process it and what it meant for Luna. Many people will bring up how self righteous and even ignorant it was of her to allow the Tantibus to run rampant, but putting all that aside, I'd like to discuss something I've noticed over the course of 3 seasons. Luna's Dream Walking abilities.

Not Dead, Just So Yall Know

Alright, so you might have noticed I haven't been very active lately. I'm not going to make any excuses. I just haven't gotten around to writing. Something or another always gets in the way of me sitting down long periods of time to write out and review what I have.

One Bucked Up Week, Have a Sketch · 8:35pm Apr 9th, 2015

Okay, so I know I'm late. Like really really late. Things went to Tartarus here at home with a perfect storm brewing out of no where.

First we had to deal with some bugs that we hadn't noticed had infested out home. Damn that was a pain in the plot. We had to look under everything and in every corner to sniff out them buggers. If that wasn't enough, our home's A/C has been malfunctioning. Ya'll know how bad that is in TEXAS! Thankfully that heat hasn't set in all the way, but man did it slug me out. We'll get it fixed soon.

No rest for the weary either as I still had to work. Which wouldn't have been so bad had my mother not gotten hit by a car. No injury to either party, but there's damages to pay because she didn't get the dude's insurance info because she was in a rush to go somewhere. Watch as money burns in the wind.

In all seriousness, I'm glad my mother is fine and that nothing major happened, but it really has been draining me. I still have a few more things I have to take care off, but I'm really hoping I can finally put out an update soon as well as the first chapter to Chains of Tartarus. As to not leave you without anything, have a sketch!

The Sombra trio, or rather the three Sombra's that I'm currently writing about. Might be a small spoiler for Sweetie's Shadow since ya'll can see Familiar holding a necklace, but he finally got his defining difference from the other Sombras!

Just me messing around with Sombra's appearance. Wanted to see how diverece I could make the same basic character and I seemed to have unintentionally sketched him like Orochimaru. Oh well, I don't think I'll be using this design, his long straight, flat mane looks off to me.

Was feeling just a little SombraShy the other day. That's not any Sombra incarnation I've made, just a random Sombra doodle and a cute little Fluttershy. I know some don't like this ship, but it was fun to draw and I always like experience in sketching mares. I think I finally got their muzzles right!

Let's see if I can finally put out an update by tonight or tomorrow. See ya'll then. If all else fails, I'll drown my sorrows in Bloodborne, my current addiction in stress relief.

We had a bit of a bug problem back in our old house. Wasps decided they liked our attic, colony formed. I go up one day to get suitcases and there are dozens of the evil stinging demons. That may have contributed to my strong dislike of changelings, or any other creature that buzzes.

Glad to hear your mom is okay too, hearing something like that can scare the living daylights out of somepony. Looking forward to the next chapter. And great sketches as well.

we hope everything is alright, keep up the good work

nice sketchs, just one thing, the Sombra from your comics is the same from Chains of Tartarus ?

2966683 No, though I see why you would think so since I always give a difference to each of my Sombras. The Chains of Tartarus and the Comic Sombras are no exception though it might be a little harder to see it.

The Sombra in my comic has the exact same design as the canon Sombra. King of Tartarus has the same armor and cape, but a different crown. His crown has a total of eight spikes, no six.

See? King of Tartarus has a more rigid design while the comic Sombra is more rounded and organic as to fit in more with my OC, since they interact like roommates almost.

Ahh, I see.
Now let's see, with the new comic about Sombra, would you let Sombra origin be like the comic or would you change it ?
and if you change it, what Sombra from your incarnations would you choose? (there can be only one!)

2969116 Oh man, that's a toughie. Obviously I would want to change it, I don't really like the holes the left open with the comic and how much of an idiot Amore was. Though to choose? Let's see.....

Reformed is my favorite in terms of personality and motivation. His constant fight with his inner demons is what first made me want to write about this sort of background, though it ill fits the Equestria from the show. MLP is not so violent and bloody. Actually, most if not all of my incarnations are too dark to fit the universe of MLP:FiM.

All except one. Promise Bound, though quite literally the most bloody and more gruesome of all my Sombras for the simple fact he cannot die. In his story, he will lose limbs and burn. He will be destroyed and come back. And it is because of this ability to defy death that he would most likely fic in MLP. If you cut down the blood and replace it with just darkness spewing out of him, it suddenly becomes kid friendly. Not to mention that his personality would be the closest to innocent in all of my incarnations.

He doesn't understand good and bad and has lived thousands of years just by moving from place to place. His past is no secret. He did what he wanted when he wanted without consequence. Time means nothing to him and since life and death don't apply, suddenly the world changes.

Imagine this. If you had literately all the time in the world, what would you do? Or rather, what wouldn't you do? Even if you weren't amoral and decided to face your punishment after a crime, what would that do to you? Serve some time in prison? Doesn't matter, you just wait. Execution? No can do, you regenerate.

Sombra the Promise Bound roamed the world with this mentality. Nothing applies to him. Not good, not evil, nothing. It was this negligence that led to his Tyranny and later his defeat. But he shook the battle off and went on with his life until he met Applejack, who for the first time since he can remember, showed him some kindness.

Up until this point, he had been attacked on sight. He was a target. As a result, he fought back in self defense, though never with any real aggression, only a sort of 'fun spirit' to it. Like, 'Nice hit, now look what I can do!', sort of vibe. Yet Applejack didn't. Instead she took pity on his broken body and helped him back to health, something she would later see was not needed. But it was this act of goodness that starts to make Sombra ponder.

"Why did she help me?" He would ask himself. Later he would find out from her that she is always trying to be good, even to those that doesn't deserve it like him. A bit of southern hospitality despite his actions. He finally realizes that there is such a thing as good and bad. Something he never even payed attention to before.

Promise Bound would likely be the best candidate for a spot light in the MLP universe.

So this Sombra is the least violent, more than Sombra from Chains?
Because from the information that we have, Sombra from Chains is the most diplomatic from all of them. And since someone immoral is considered a sociopath, I was thinking that Sombra from Promise Bound was going to be one of the most violents.

2972325 Yes, he's a sociopath, not a psychopath. It isn't that he's violent or takes pleasure in making other feel pain, he simply doesn't see anything wrong with his actions, or any actions all together.

I'll give you an example from a scene I planned out in the fic. Celestia and Luna meet Sombra and he, with a large smile, begins to attack them. This isn't a smile of malice or anger, simply a smile like when someone sees an old friend. When asked why he attacked, he responded.

"Well because every time we've seen each other we've fought. Thought that was just how things went."

He didn't see them attacking him as an aggression, but more as a greeting. That being said, he greeted back. Another scene would be a few chapters in when he's gotten a chance to speak to Applejack over good and bad. Though poorly worded, AJ said that someone can be good in two ways. Either by bringing good into the world, or by taking the bad out. What she was trying to say is if you can't be good, at least don't be bad and make things worse, but he understood something different.

Later that day Sombra sees the salesmen from 'Putting your hoof down" Still up to his old tricks in haggling and taking advantage of other ponies. Taking what Aj said to heart, he makes his way to the stand, all the while with a large playful grin. Upon reaching the guy, he smiles, tilts his head and talks in the most calm and sincere voice one could muster.

"You're a bad pony. I'm going to take you out of this world."

He then begins an assault with the intent to kill. Thankfully Fluttershy was close by to stop him moments before actually killing the guy.

Sombra didn't attack out of bloodlust. He genuinely thought he was doing something good by killing the guy. Because of his mental condition, he didn't see anything wrong with killing him, especially since that meant a bad pony would be laid to rest. So yes, he's violent, but not because he himself is violent, but because to him, violence is the fastest way to reach a goal. Since he doesn't view violence as bad, he doesn't do it with any ill will. He just thought he was helping.
