EDIT: Not an April Fools' Day joke! I hope those of you that also loath this day on the internet can appreciate an attempt at legitimate content, because I can't take it back now and prove everyone else right. 
Yes, you read that right. After nearly nine months since the last update (insert large amounts of truly honest apologies and less-than-honest excuses here), a new chapter is just about ready to go. I'm doing final edits on it tonight. "Chapter 7 - The Manehatten Project" should come in around 13,500 words. If you've forgotten what happened previously, now would be a good time to catch up with the Chapter Summaries I've provided in a convenient appendix. And, of course, make sure you're tracking the story to see tomorrow's update as soon as I get it finished!

2929890 2929815 Okay, so... I literally just realized that tomorrow is April Fools. I was thinking "An auspicious start, and what better time than the start of a new month!" I R idjit!
But seriously. I swear, new chapter, for real, not a joke. Or maybe that should be the joke. I originally started Hole in the Sun with the idea of subverting every major trope I could, so actually updating for the first time in nearly a year on April 1st? I think maybe Discord could be proud of that! But yes, beat me up if it's a lie!
2929656 I know, everyone's been waiting, even me. As I've said so many times that I'm now the boy who cried wolf, I feel bad for not updating. If it makes you feel any better though, I've gone through at last two different jobs since the least update, and all the time NOT writing pony has done some good improving the other parts of my life... now if only I didn't miss writing pony so much during that long interim.
