    New Story out now!

Hey everyone! Remember that thing I said I'd be doing a while back? Well... Here it is!

    Hey guys! What's new?

So, I haven't been here in a good long while. I got the writing itch a while back, specifically for ponies and my old Betaverse fics. I might have something in the pipeline. I've got a few questions I'd like to ask the general pony-reading audience if you don't mind. Just so I can see if my writing style should be tweaked a bit for the modern audience.

    Stardrop's Lackluster Ending

Hello everyone. I know I've been away for a while, but that's due to me deciding to finish stories before I post them to revise, edit, and alter them to give you all better stories to read. I don't feel free to do so when I post stories live. This results in me getting frustrated with how a story is shaping up and then dropping it. That wasn't a problem when I was younger, but it's become one as

Anyone know artists who do illistrations for stories?

I'm low key working on a story which I intend to complete before posting. I'm enjoying being able to go back and improve, tweak, and change things to make the best possible version of the story, and it's nice to not feel like I am bound to a strict schedule of uploads.

A metatextual analisis of "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified" to show how it fits in the series timelines

A lot of people like the rebooted XCOM series, and a lot of people also insist its lore is bad/nonexistent. This isn't true in my opinion, but is the product of the game that sets up the world for the series having been released a year after the first game in the series as a prequel, and also it sucks ass to play. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is not a good game. At all. The story is really good,

Real life Sonic Rainboom · 1:34am Feb 26th, 2015

Nope. This is an actual prismatic sonic boom in real life.

They are pretty rare as they occur when enough moisture in the air is displaced by the shock wave to cause the same refraction of light via water that creates a normal rainbow. This means that you can only see it from certain angles, but it means that the Sonic Rainboom realy dose happen in real life.

More proof that MLP physics are similar enough to our own to only differ very slightly. Science is vindicated once more!

Sometimes, fiction is a little bit closer to reality than we think...

2831059 Magic is simply technology and biology you do not understand.

2831059 More like always. If physics was substantially different from our universes then life would have to be drastically different or not exist at all. How different? Like living energy different. Hell I could change one thing and then gravity wouldn't exist...

2831089 Precisely. All of magic could easily be explained as the ability of an individual to interact with quantum strata. Hell I worked out the physics by which a Pegasus's flight magic likely works.

2831099
2831089

Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Show someone from Medieval times TV and they would think it's magic. Same with cars, computers, any other electronic device, most modern medicine, planes, probably even our "perfect" paper ("What magic has created such perfect parchment?!?").

2831099 I still need to continue reading those bridesmaids. But generally speaking I think immortality through shapeshifting is impossible. No matter what you do the mind ages and eventually you reach maximum capacity. If you wish to let's continue this in a pm.

2831112 Well, it depends on if the brain shifts with the body. If each form is "stored" away then you could theoretically have infinite memory space, just having to shift in order to access them... Or each form stores parts of the memories, sort of like zipping a file on a computer.

2831207 Occam's Razor. I know how this works and it would end up just like doing the same thing with cables. And trust me as a computer engineer i know how unsafe it is to work with such a method.

In any case if it was true then why does no other changeling use it. Immortality is supposed to be nice right?

First Occam's Razor ONLY applies to philosophy. Real science gets to be as complicated as it happens to be. Reality resists simplicity.

... Spooky Action at a Distance. Look into it. Also all any of us are is a collection of memories running through a specific set of hardware. There is NO reason why other hardware could not emulate us. Consciousness is not a mystical thing, its a consequence of brain structure. A prefect replica of your brain with an exact copy of your memories would be just as much you as you are. Consciousness is just data, data can easily be streamed from one location to another.

That said, in my fiction, Meep ASSUMES that only she is using that trick. You only know what information she as a character knows. TONS of Changelings could use that trick. Recall how she learned it? She stole a book of advanced techniques from a noble's library. Who says that it isn't something all noble lings use it?

2831419 Oooh so that's why changelings are big friggin jerks right? Immortality has numbed them to everything. Bingo.

Personally I don't like any concept of Immortality. It makes for good sue material/reason to call someone sue. No lie... look it up on the sue race test.

I think Immortality changes one's personality ultimately to the worst.

2831447

Oooh so that's why changelings are big friggin jerks right? Immortality has numbed them to everything. Bingo.

This is EXACTLY my head canon (for Sapphire changelings, the ones you see in the show.). Now while you don't like immortality, that's not the issue here. That's your opinion. Immortality as a subject is something worth discussing in fiction. Additionally MY opinions on t are unimportant as well, all that matter is what Meep, the character thinks about it.

She wants it as the means to an end. She desires to learn everything about the stars and space, but would not have enough time to do so in a normal life span, and thus found a way to live as long as she wants to. To her, immortality isn't just desirable, it's VITAL to her existence until her curiosity is satisfied. That's the kind of person she is. Me? I don't want to live past age 55.

I do not write puppets. I do not write insert vessels, I do not write Marry Sue's. I write people. These people frequently have views, values, and morals which are entirely different from my own.

2831474

This is EXACTLY my head canon (for Sapphire changelings, the ones you see in the show.).

Regardless of what you say about stuff on the rest of your points I think that this is... I don't exactly find suck dichotomies tasteful. Because after that you can just judge through appearances and make friends with anyone you want simply through a mark. I don't see why the changelings with the different colored eyes couldn't still be jerks.

I just think that separating them like that is well... it might just be limited knowledge and all. But I just don't like it... it gives ground for all sort of assumptions.

Besides my OC is heterochromic. :P Wtf happens then? LEL

2831492 First, Sapphires are a faction. It's just a factional difference in culture with other changeling factions.

You seem to be trying to merge my canon with your own. Why?

2831503 No I am not. I am just trying to say that it sounds like you're distinguishing the jerks from the good guys based on... appearance.

Does this sound right to you?

2831508 What's your point? Factions typically group up based on similar ideals, which are generally found within a culture, which are usually composed of the people of a certain geographic region, who in general share a phenotype. The vast majority if not entirety of ISIS operatives are of Arabic decent. Or are you so PC you don't beleave that?

Also I have factions of "good" changelings. So what's your point?

2831573

Or are you so PC you don't believe that?

PC? Huh?

Also I have factions of "good" changelings. So what's your point?

Not that you have them. Rather the way you distinguish them.

To be honest red or blue I would trust no changeling until I knew it.

2831573 Actually Nevermind I don't have a problem with it so much. In the series of Drizzt Do Urden the dark elves aka drow all have red eyes which is a show of the influence of the dark goddess Lloth. There's Eilistraee who wants to save them though and managed to take 20% away from Lloth's influence.

Also seriously but sometimes Lloth and Queen Chrysalis are apparently the same.

2831595 That's honestly what I was shooting for. Basically the eye and shell color of a Changeling shows their allegiance. Meep can't remember this tidbit... But her colors used to be blue. If a Changeling changes their allegiance, moral values, heart or however you want to say it, they change color. It's a curse, long ago a powerful mage cursed them to forever where their heart's upon their sleeves so to speak.

2831648 That mage is an asshole.

2831655 Yes she is. She got her cutiemark in preparing a dish made from the hearts of ponies. That's the kind of person she is.
