Writing again! (Though how well remains to be seen) · 5:40am Feb 25th, 2015
Hey look, I'm writing again. Woooooo.
For one, I finished that Korra fanfic I started a few weeks ago. If you've watched The Legend of Korra, you should check it out. And if you haven't, go watch The Legend of Korra (dieselpunk magic kung fu!) because it's an awesome show, and then read my fanfic as a tiny side bonus.
In any case, I suppose the writing bug has bitten me again, as I'm slowly getting back into the habit of sitting down and hammering out words on a semi regular basis. One of the things that was holding me back was the fact I've been a bit stuck on A Night Too Long, as I haven't been able to come up with a climax that I like yet. This is one of my weaknesses as a fic author, in that I'm happy to start a story for the sake of making some cheap jokes, but I sometimes run out of steam towards the end. Hm.
So! In an effort to get my fingers used to a keyboard again, I went ahead and returned to a story that I'd hammered out a few hundred words on about a year or so ago. Namely, a sequel to Friendship is More than Meets the Eye. Yes, more crossover silliness. At least it's not a second person self insert human in Equestria story, or something.
See, the thing about FiMtMtE is that I only used a handful of characters, out of the thousands of varied G1 personalities that showed up in the old cartoon. And so...Friendship in Disguise is going to feature more Transformers who I think are cool. Huzzah! Now, the thing is, I'm afraid I might geek out a little too much and leave a less-obsessed fan behind with my references...so I'll have little companion notes in the blog to help. I can't help but feel this kind of lessens me as a writer, instead of intricately introducing and describing each new space robot as they turn up in the story, but...screw it, I'm lazy.
Anyway!
Thus far, Friendship in Disguise mostly features Cosmos, who is awesome. He's a little green robot who turns into a little green flying saucer, and he inexplicably sounds like Peter Lorre. Keep that last part in mind whenever you read his dialogue.
Oh, and Galvatron and Cyclonus show up at the end, too. They're bad guys.
One last thing about this new story- as I'm envisioning it, it owes a bit in terms of structure and tone to the old G1 cartoon. In particular, whenever there's one of those line-breaks between scenes, imagine you're seeing this:
I almost started putting them in the story proper, but the ones I found on Youtube don't have the full musical sting. Those kind of things are IMPORTANT, dammit!
