Thinkin' About A New Story

Been thinkin' about an idea I had a short while ago. The problem is that it treads on similar ground to something I already wrote about. Normally, I don't like doing this sort of thing because it's redundant. I like exploring new concepts and ideas, rather than doing the same thing over and over. However, in this case, I might make an exception.

You know that literary trainwreck that was More Than A Sleepover? Well, I'm thinking about taking another shot at the general concept. I screwed up the first time, and the topic deserves better. I don't think I quite broke the aesop last time, but it was clouded by the severe problems that the fic had. I know exactly where the first chapter should've ended, for one thing, not to mention the more-than-questionable characterization.

So, I was thinking about tackling the subject again, looking at my old mistakes and making something better. It's a serious topic, and I guess I'd like to get it right. Not gonna say much other than that it'd be an Equestria Girls fic (probably), it would mainly involve Fluttershy and Rainbow (again), and it'd be far less cringeworthy (I hope). Much like Sleepover, I didn't sit down and go, "I think I'll write a story about pushing friends too far and taking advantage of them." In the same way, it was more like, "What if X and Y were doing Z, like you so often see, but one of them wasn't so into it? What if X didn't let the issue go, but rather pushed it and their friend too far?" Then I was like, "Wait, I already kinda wrote about this with different characters. I screwed it up, though, so maybe I should try again and not suck this time."

So what do you think? Should give it another go, or just drop it?
