A huge thanks and a reader decision! · 6:36am Feb 15th, 2015
First off I want to say thanks to everyone who is reading and enjoying my story. I never expected to receive the amount of praise that I'm getting and It's really driving me to write more. I only have about 10,000 words published and I already have 200 up votes and only 14 down votes. It got featured twice and has been a popular story three times now. I can't express the amount of gratitude I'm feeling and I really want to say thanks.
Spoiler for chapter 5 below!
Now, Trixie is Robin's new apprentice! The question is, which field of magic should she be able to perform? Robin is special in the sense that he can use all arcane from Fire Emblem (except light magic). Normal mages can only use either Wind, Fire, Lightning or Dark. Besides Dark magic (Robin won't teach her, sorry), which field of arcane do you believe fits Trixie and why?
I think Fire, if only because she uses those fake fireworks all the friggin' time.
...which field will help with illusions?
Personally I think that lightning fits well with her brash personality. She tends to make quick claims and responds to things near immediately so the speed of lightning based magic would suit her.
Fire, because illusion's are there, and at the same time you cannot grab it, just like fire. Fire adds the heat-factor, but who cares?
And lightning is in a sense fire, jsut much stronger. Both are basically energy.
I like Thunder.
2798349 Ask yourself this: Illusion would work well with which field?
I think that Trxie should start with a specialization with fire but progress towards mastering them all. She might never master them (or she might, you never know) but she may be able to lear the basics in order to adapt to certain situations. Remember, she's Robins apprentice and he should take her as far as she is willing to go.
2798841 that's an interesting thought. I've said so myself that this is considered 'real life' and not restricted by rules the games placed upon characters. I'll definitely consider that, but, unlike Robin, I want Trixie to be a possible master of only one field.
2798876 That's fine. My only though is that Robin would likely see the benifit of teaching Trixie about all forms of elemental magic. Even if she never masters them, it would giver her options on the battle field and allow her to know how to combat against certain forms of magic. For example teaching about dark magic to help her combat and defend against dark magic and it's temptation. My belief is that actively restricting knowledge leads to a desire for knowledge and the danger of being under prepaired for negative influence. These benefits would be appealing for a tactical genius like Robin.
2798890 This, right here, is why I love bouncing ideas around with people. You've more or less won me over with your argument. I'm going to have to tread carefully with Dark magic though. Robin may explain the uses of Dark magic, but he will not teach her. If you haven't played Fire Emblem before, just know that a lot of the tomes available can be considered violent, brutal and morally questionable.
Lightning, as certain types of illusions are just tricks of light.
My own opinion is that it would either be Fire, Lightining, or Dark. The first two provide bright flashes for distractions and confusion, the first one maybe even an extension of her fireworks, while Darkness is illusions. Trixie, to me, will always be a stage pony and a trickster. If you want to look at what I feel to be the ultimate slight-of-hand, illusionist, do anything to win her, look up Joseph Joestar.
