    New Story out now!

Hey everyone! Remember that thing I said I'd be doing a while back? Well... Here it is!

    Hey guys! What's new?

So, I haven't been here in a good long while. I got the writing itch a while back, specifically for ponies and my old Betaverse fics. I might have something in the pipeline. I've got a few questions I'd like to ask the general pony-reading audience if you don't mind. Just so I can see if my writing style should be tweaked a bit for the modern audience.

    Stardrop's Lackluster Ending

Hello everyone. I know I've been away for a while, but that's due to me deciding to finish stories before I post them to revise, edit, and alter them to give you all better stories to read. I don't feel free to do so when I post stories live. This results in me getting frustrated with how a story is shaping up and then dropping it. That wasn't a problem when I was younger, but it's become one as

Anyone know artists who do illistrations for stories?

I'm low key working on a story which I intend to complete before posting. I'm enjoying being able to go back and improve, tweak, and change things to make the best possible version of the story, and it's nice to not feel like I am bound to a strict schedule of uploads.

A metatextual analisis of "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified" to show how it fits in the series timelines

A lot of people like the rebooted XCOM series, and a lot of people also insist its lore is bad/nonexistent. This isn't true in my opinion, but is the product of the game that sets up the world for the series having been released a year after the first game in the series as a prequel, and also it sucks ass to play. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is not a good game. At all. The story is really good,

I will only upload finished work. · 4:23pm Jan 28th, 2015

This is less a blog and more of a promise to my followers.

I firmly believe that a story suffers when it is written in sections. If I write an entire story I can ensure it has a good narrative flow, cut or add scenes as needed, go back and add foreshadowing and keep the tone consistent, and make sure it's not too long or too short for what it is. Yes, this can be done with a story I upload a chapter at a time, but many people will have red it by then and only new readers will see the changes. I believe this is a terrible disservice to the first people to read the story.

Therefore, I promise you that I will upload my stories when they are done. I will only post a story in parts if it is meant to be driven by the feedback of the readers.

This means you may have to wait a month or more to get a sequel to a fic, for for me to publish a new story, but it will be complete when you see it. You will never have that story of mine you love which just sits there, never being updated, it's characters in eternal limbo.

Alright, sounds good.

have red it by then

red should be read if I remember mah English.:applejackunsure:
I look forward to whatever it is you're writing!

Uhmmm... you have to understand that not all readers can swallow the ton of material that you will give them.

So by all means uploead your finished work.

But do so IN PIECES.

I am discouraged from reading any fic that is above 5k words if it's not too interesting. Ok?

2753546 Read is the present tense of the word. By all rules of english red should be the past tense of read. It's a personal gripe of mine with english. Like how water should be pronounced way-ter because there is ONLY ONE T IN THE MIDDLE THUS THE E SHOULD MAKE THE A SAY ITS NAME! Water therefore should be spelled watter.

2753688 I didn't say I wouldn't be writing chapters, just that I would be uploading stories upon their completion.

2754783 that doesn't change the fact that read is still the correct past tense from of the word. If you try to change the rules in your writing people will complain about it. I thought it was a typo is all. Not sure if you're angry at me or our broken language.

2754892 I am angry at our backwards language which lamentably ignores it's own rules. Seriously, I don't get mad at people who offer criticism. I just worded that poorly as I work up 2 minutes prior to posting. No worries, I apply the Oxford rules to my fiction. I just don't usually bother wish such effort while writing casually.

2753688 For clarification, I am an old school writer. You can expect me to put out stories of about novella length, which may or may not be serialized, and are made up of chapters between 2 and 4 thousand words. Most stories i do have between 10 and 15 chapters. If the story will be longer then that when I am writing the outline, I end the story and continue in a sequel.

2754942 Ah okay. I realize mine was worded badly as well. Sorry about the misunderstanding.:twilightsheepish:

2755169 Question... how exactly do you plan on informing the readers should things get rewritten in the fic? Blog Posts?

2757843 Yes. I f I ever have to do major work on a chapter that is important to any following work I will do a blog post about it. Minor edits such as grammar and spelling will be done without notification.

2759114 What is your opinion of all the others that upload their works in pieces. They cant be stupid right?

2759122 No not at all! Lots of people can pull off the "chapter per ____" format. I applaud them for it, it's something I know from experience I cant do. I used to write for a living, so submitting completed work is drilled into me. Additionally I am used to going back and tweaking earlier parts to fit with later parts of a story.

If I did a chapter per day format (and I could, because I write for my own entertainment.) my work's quality would suffer, or readers would get an incomplete story because unknown to them chapter 3 has been revised 6 times, added to twice, and rearranged once to better fit with later events and implant some foreshadowing for an event in chapter 8 which I only decided to do in chapter 8.

My writing process simply demands I finish the entire story before releasing it. It seems silly to have it all done and yet put it out a chapter at a time. So, I put it all out there at once. I don't mind if this means less readers. These are written because I like to write, and because my girlfriend has a crappy job and likes pony fic. I just put them here because what use is a story if no one can read it?

2759132 But then again what of those that just upload it in pieces diatributed over a period of time to give people a little break between each chapter?

2759136 That's their choice. I figure if people need a break between each chapter, and the chapters are all their, that person can do that themselves. Bookmark the next chapter, come back tomorrow.

2759137 I still disagree that you wont get good criticism from this. Think about it...

What will happen if this idea of yours ends up being like the Austreeoh series? Like 200 or more chapters strong? How many are going to stay so far in the story or wait so much only to give you a negative opinion?

Anyways what I mean to say is you really need to ask whats the best way to "sell" your stuff here... Not just mindlessly not care about things.

2759180 I have a maximum length per volume of this series of 55,000 words. But I suppose you are correct. If after a few installments I am unsatisfied, I will try your idea.

2759197 Right... some series don't stop at 55k words.

2759495 I am aware. I enjoy sagas. Howeaver a million word novel should be split into several smaller ones.

2759499 Yes but after the third installment sagas get the "Final Fantasy" feeling. Like if you're milking the audience for the views/money.

2759565 Yes. But that's not a problem when the author couldn't care less about views/cash and is writing just to tell a good story.

What is your problem? I am not forcing you to read my stories. You are under no obligation to read everything ever written. Am I breaking some sort of unwritten rule which just offends you to the core? If so that's just silly. If you don't like something, you don't have to participate in it. This is not something you opt out of, each story is something you opt into.

I have chosen to write longer stories split into appropriately sized volumes to create my own little version of the MLP universe. I am doing this for fun. I am only sharing it because I believe someone might like reading it and I enjoy hearing people's thoughts on my ideas. But even if I did not upload these, I would still write them. For fun.

So, once more, what is your problem?

2759593 None really. I just don't see if it's a difference between preferences or if you're arguing your way is better.

I seek to understand this.

2759610 I am simply informing people that this is how I write. No way is any better than an other, except when it comes to the individual authors. This way is the best for me and so I use it.

II felt the need to explain to people that I will be uploading works in full, not in part, as doing so in part is normal for FiM Fic. That is all.

2759708 I see. Well I myself have trouble regulating my writing output. Most of the time the story is fixed in my head as an idea and I simply see where it takes me. Is that bad? I mean If you would like we could have a talk about how you write. I want some help in formulating ideas.

2759712 No it's not bad. I do that too. But planning helps a lot as well. I do a 2 sentence to 1 paragraph summer of a chapter ahead of time, then write. If I come up with something on the spot I do it. Plot outlines are guidelines, not rules.

2759757 True... yet there are some ideas that I would really appreciate your help formatting with.

2759762 I am happy to help. Lets take it to PMs so we don't clutter the comments.
