4500 words, my delicious army!
Also, I was reading back through the chapter and I found it to be rather dialogue-heavy. Personally I want to have an even balance between dialogue and general exposition, so to speak. I'll have my go-to editor run through it.
But, depending on how heavy on the dialogue it is exactly, I want to know in advance what you guys think of that kind of thing. Does it take away from the story by making it too long with characters speaking to each other? Would it be better if it was read from a book, or something else?
Let me know.
Personally I think it'd be fine with a lot of dialogue. Your stories are great, and you portray the characters in a way that's true to themselves, and that includes dialogue, so I'm sure it'd be fine. It really depends on the content of the dialogue, though. If you feel that it doesn't have much to do with the plot, then remove it. Otherwise, keep it.

I'm just paranoid that people will complain that there is too much dialogue. I want to try and remove what could be construed as unnessecary.
In my defense, in a situation with an alien creature coming to your planet will cause a lot of stir and thus invoke a fuckton of discussion.
So long as the dialogue itself is entertaining, I could sit here and read a script all day long. For anyone who is unaware, Japanese light novels are almost entirely dialogue. They barely ever even describe the scene.
