CSI-V Chapter 3 story notes · 1:11am Jan 22nd, 2015

Hey, look at that! Another chapter of Celestia Sleeps In with a Vengeance.

There'll be one more after this, and I hope it won't take a year.

This update is going to be a total surprise to my pre-readers; I didn't even tell them it was coming. So any mistakes are mine, and mine alone.

Some species of bats do engage in REDACTED to prolong the mating. I can't say what they're doing (NSFW rules and all that), but if his head is up here, and her head is down there . . . I'm sure you get the idea.

Nature is so fascinating!

Tapeworms have actually been used as a weight-loss supplement. The idea is that you swallow some tapeworm eggs (or maybe whole baby tapeworms, I dunno), and they go and do what tapeworms do, and then when you've reached your target weight, you just get the tapeworms out.

As can be imagined, it's the getting them out part which is problematic.

This may not be the worst weight-loss scheme ever devised, but it's got to be in the top ten.

Twilight's liftoff from the balcony is a series of moves which no sane pilot would attempt on liftoff. Her final move, a forward slip, is designed to bleed off airspeed for a landing. Using it right after a liftoff is a very good way to ensure crashing, probably inside the airport boundaries (which is probably the best place to crash: they've got fire trucks right there).

A shoutout to Featherprop, who suggested the forward slip instead of the side slip.

Of course, we all know what the tatzlwurm is, but I thought I ought to include this epic picture of it anyway.

Sirius (the star system) is the brightest star system in the night sky. It's about 8.6 light years away, or 81,362,000,000,000 kilometers.

A 'tetrillion' is a proposed name replacement for 'trillion.'

I was going to also tell you just how far the sun's observed position would change over three arc-seconds, but I'm not that good at that type of math.

Tatzlwurm.

I am.

The sun moves 360 degrees in 24 hours. That's 15 degrees per hour, or 15 arc-minutes per minute, or 15 arc-seconds per second.

So three arc-seconds is the same distance the sun naturally moves in 1/5 of a second.

Actually, I imagine the Twinkies diet would work. If you ate nothing but Twinkies for a prolonged period of time, you'd probably just become so damned malnourished that you'd lose weight. Of course that's... because you're unhealthy, not because you're just... you know... healthily burning fat. I've also heard of a cookie diet, obviously in the same league. So uh... neither of those diets are a good option if you value your health. Or life. :pinkiecrazy:

You can also quickly lose a fair bit of weight by amputation.

Hey, legs are heavy.

But that's probably another fad diet which has some serious downsides.
