Jed On: Shameless bit of Egotism · 10:29pm Jan 8th, 2015
It's not often I have the inclination to say nice things about my own work. You'd not think it from the amount of times I say "this is awesome, that is awesome" when talking about my own work, but I don't tend to believe my own work is up to all that much. In fact, I tend to compare my work harshly to others and find it very, very lacking. Other people tell me I shouldn't - that my work is good even comparing it to other stuff. Still, I don't tend to believe it.
Nonetheless... with only six chapters left to go through for AoA, I feel that, looking back, I am actually really proud of what I've done. In less than a year, I've written a story that has spawned spin offs, inspired others to have ideas and is creating, even as we speak, a multiverse that is going to hopefully go somewhere very, very awesome. It's one of the longest individual ACB fics ever (sure, it's so far behind the nearest rival that it's not even funny but hey ho), it has some moments that rival even the grimmest stuff in other similar works, and it's genuinely one of the best pieces I feel like I've ever done. I'm proud to have written it, proud that others have found it worth their time.
Even so - I don't think I would have ever gotten so far if I hadn't received the support from my friends and from people on here that I have gotten over these few months. Without that, I'm sure AOA would have died a death. Instead, it's birthed something awesome.
So: thank you - readers, co-authors, editors, supporters. Thank you for helping to make this something I really am proud to have created. Thank you for standing by me while I do it. I hope when it's all over it has lived up to your expectations, and I hope that what comes after continues to meet the standards I have set.
Thank you.
Jed.
No, thank you for posting such an awesome story.
And don't try to get in a wordswordswords contest with Other Side of the Spectrum. I mean, 33,000 word chapters?! Jesus Christ.
2709632 Yeah, see Spectrum has two years and about seventeen people on me, so that'd be impossible. I like to think that writing 280,000 in nearly eight months is impressive enough that I needn't feel too inadequate. ;-) Plus I got to work with those guys, which is frikkin' leg.
