I've noticed a link between the Main Antagonists in the Canon series and the Seven Deadly Sins.
Nightmare Moon = Envy
As you know, Nightmare Moon was born as a result of Luna's jealousy/envy towards Celestia for having their subjects spend their waking hours in the day and sleeping away her beautiful night.
Discord = Sloth
I feel as though Discord is Sloth based solely on the fact that he has yet to do anything directly. Much like Real World Diplomats, he prefers to talk than do any real work. Even when he does work, he prefers to do so sneakily, and always takes the easy way out.
Chrysalis = Lust
Why would you need to even think about why she represents lust? I've never known a sexier bug, not even Charlotte.
King Sombra = Greed
Crystals! Nuff said.
Tirek = Gluttony
Some might argue that Tirek would be Wrath, but remember that his power was stolen through the consumption of other ponies' magic.
There are Two sins left; Pride and Wrath.
What enemies with those characteristics will Equestria face? We'll find out soon I suspect.

Okay, so we've had Pride in Season 5.
Starlight Glimmer = Pride
While Starlight preached the values of Equality, it was her pride that ultimately led her to refuse acceptance of a pony's individuality.
Well isn't it obvious? Grogar is pride as he takes pride in his demonic work and would LOVE to show it off to the world. Wrath... yeah I got nothing unless they made Tirek's brother Skorpan a antagonist I don't see what else could fit it unless it's an OC.
