This author has become one of my favorites. I like the webcomic he writes for and his pony fanfics are some of the best I’ve read. This story is a very short piece. Also hilarious. This goes right up on the top tier of comedic stories. Very, very silly with a very, very, very horrible pun at the very end. Both awesome.
Dear Idiot by The Descendant

Another non-standard storytelling example. This one is told entirely as one long letter. Funny and had some of the few outright mean bits of comedy that I’ve enjoyed, and felt more or less like ponies. Somehow I don’t get as jarred by Celestia being mean as I would anyone else. Even in a idealized fantasy world I’m pretty sure that the immortal god-queen would build up some meanness after a few centuries. The story isn’t exactly mean, but the entire letter is more or less a long form insult of a minor MLP character who really deserves it.
Jury Duty by Estee

Funny character study on how the mane six would react to jury selection. Each of them got nailed perfectly, even if Fluttershy only got a single appearance that re-used her first joke. Twilight Sparkle was just perfect, as was Applejack, and Rarity, and Rainbow Dash too.
On The Application Of Time And Motion Efficiency Studies To Initial Relationship Formation by Estee

Very silly. Twilight Sparkle invents speed dating, but without actually understanding dating or romance as anything more than theoretical concepts. Not a reread, but very funny and would make a perfect episode of the show. Both Twilight and Rarity are captured perfectly.
A Muddy Hole by Powered By Tea
(story link) (my original review)
Short character study of Rarity. Well done, ties in with the events of the show in a minor fashion, but no deep worldbuilding or meaning. Highly recommended, but I don’t think it’ll be a reread.
(Future comment: I actually did end up re-reading this many months after the first one. Was just as fun the second time through.)

If you know of a text-format reviewer I'm not keeping track of, please let me know and I'll see if they meet the criteria to be assimilated into the list.
If you are an author who wants a more detailed review of a story I've covered feel free to message me. My reviews tend to be fairly light, mostly just reactions to a story right after reading it. I am happy to give a more careful read and reply to anyone who wants more precision and/or feedback.
