Only serious thought: Yeah, is not my genre. I love mechas but moe girls is not in my list of things to spend time watching. It's funny enough to have one or two good laughs but the comedy feels like going to some wrong places. Finally, there's a lot of lost potential in having such EPIC! stories together to waste it in a high-school setting. If you like the genre, go and watch it for yourself, but if you're expecting action then go a watch Godzilla or Pacific Rim.
Hi there, let me tell you a premise:
It's a story about a group of girls that are best friends and fight evil. Although it's lighthearted with a seemingly childish atmosphere it also has it themes that can be darker and edgier given the occasion... With mechas. Tons and tons of mechas. There is the full Go Nagai's Dynamic Robots Heroes present, so you have the Mazinger's (Z, Great and Grendizer) interacting with other franchises like Getter Robo, Daiku Maryu Gaiking and Kotetsu Jeeg. All going around and showing off the AWESOME! of the genre.
Now, it sounds like the basis of MY fiction, Ponies and Robots Wars, right?
Apparently, the guys from Toei Animation thought that the idea had some potential, so they made a full anime out of this. Here:

Okay, this is not what I had in mind when I started my own girly/manly crossover with Ponies fooling around with Robots. But to be honest, I feel that I've been surpassed. The jokes, the shout-outs, the mythology gags... Toei practically took everything I was planing for Ponies and Robots Wars and made an anime out of that. The already used and did everything I wanted to use and do. There's nothing left!
Except.
Except that I'm using JAM Project's MUSIC! in Ponies and Robots Wars. There's no Robot Girls Z video with JAM Project out there--

But, to be honest, it's hearthwarming to see that Toei still remembers their old classics and even spend time and money doing homages and parodies about them. And I never thought I could see a race between the Mazinger and the Gaiking.

I respect Sailor Moon as a trope codifier for the anime in the same way I respect Dragon Ball Z and Saint Seiya. The modern Bleach, Naruto and One Piece aren't in my radar but I've heard enough good things about them to understand that they have earned they respective fan bases.

But.
THIS is the Mazinkaiser SKL, a downgraded version of the original Kaiser. It doesn't have the most powerful weapons of the series (not ranged for starters), it can't fly, it's not limitless powered and it's not invulnerable.
Just put two crazy AWESOME! pilots on its cockpit, point it into a general direction and the robot in question will show you why it is a worthy bearer of the Kaiser's name:
