Question Time: Before the Dawn AU? · 10:42pm Aug 11th, 2014
Sooo, I have a question to ask of you guys. I know most (not all) of you who enjoyed Before the Dawn (BtD) liked the whole Luna/Sombra shipping. I tried to appease readers by also writing In Your Dreams: Luna's Farewell. I'm finding, though, that I want to write more stuff about Sombra and Luna, but I don't exactly want to break away from the "Luna" I've built up in the stories I've thus far written. So, here's my question.
What if I wrote an alternate world version of Before the Dawn? A freak accident causes Luna of today's time to get sent back to around the time of Before the Dawn. Here, she sees what happens when neither she nor Sombra become targets of the Nightmist. Basically I would explore the life that they could/should have lived together. Because I've fleshed out characters in BtD, I would love to reuse them for this AU version, however, I would write them in such a way that people who never read Before the Dawn could actually enjoy and read the story. After all, Luna's going to have to revisit these characters because she won't know them as we do right now.
Anyways, what do you guys think? Would that be something of interest to you? Yes, I do intend to continue writing Shadow of the Moon, (SotM) this would just give me my Luna/Sombra fix. It would be much shorter than BtD and SotM.
Let me know, and if I get enough interest, I might start writing up an outline.

It is a swell idea, although some would perceive it as an spin-off-happy-ending type of event.
You could also write on the Nighmist again, but effecting different characters, namely Celestia
got influenced. Sombra & Luna would have to stop her from going insane.
Never really read a story where 2 lovers has to ensure the safety of the world, by saving a family member (marriage optional, but consequential). You could elaborate on how their emotions flux, what each intend to do and how it affects one-another. Especially when they only have themselves.
Just an idea, hope it makes sense. Anyhow, any additional romance and Luna/Sombra fix written by you would be a worthy read. I'm game!

Oh yes, there would still be danger and adventure involved with the Nightmist, Luna and Sombra just wouldn't be the targets this time. They'd still have to work together to solve problems in Equestria, but this time they could at least do it together instead of being enemies of one another.

I would love to see this but can I ask, how are you going to do it? Will Lune be sent back in time with all her memories and then try to change the future or are you going to do it a different way?

A cosmic event is going to occur that's going to more or less split the veil between the Equestria we know and the Equestria that could have been. She'll be tossed into the AU with her current memories, but with how it's going to be set up, it's going to be left up to question whether the memories she has are actually real memories, or just dreams. Having her learn about the AU will allow the readers to see what changes have occurred, and will also help Luna "remember" this new world. In the end, she may have to decide whether to go back to her old world or stay in the AU...because either way, she's going to lose the memories of one of the worlds.
