2316005 Yeah that always sucks. It's almost as bad with writing short stories. Wondering where to finish, but still with a continuous story you have to be careful with revealing too much too soon or too little too late.

So rather than a block that impedes your forward motion you have some form of out of control transportation that moves you against your will.... Like a writer's rollercoaster... or rocket car... Oh even better, a "Writer's Oil Slick"
I actually have a problem that I like to call "story empathy". When I write happy stories I get happy, when I write sad stories I get sad... and when I write a story where a little filly gets a tummy ache from eating too much birthday cake... I get a stomach ache. I'm writing such a story right now.
2316157 lol exactly. This chapter is going to be pretty long I think. I get the empathy too, it's good thing, if you can really feel for your characters, it means they are real.
Anyway I'll think if how I want this chapter to work all day while in Rome, celebrating my birthday.
2317369 Or at least real enough that I can get emotionally invested in them. I've read so many "Sad": stories that while I understand what was supposed to be sad, I just didn't feel it due to how shallow the characters were, then there are the moments where I wonder how I can be crying so hard for cartoon ponies.
And there it comes full circle, happy birthday by the way. But really? Birthday cake tummy ache, I get the stomach ache and you get the cake... fun.

A filly getting a bellyache from eating too much cake sounds adorable. It's a mark of a good writer to strike a reader at their core with such powerful emotions, something I really want to get better at doing.
